I need some help with filling up a cartomizer tank. A few weeks back I ordered 2 Texas Tuff tanks from Vapedudes, and i'm just now getting around to using them. I've never used a carto tank before and I thought these would be easy to fill because they have the side screw I can pop right out and use a syringe to fill with. I just watched the the vid on Vapedudes about how to fill a Texas Tuff tank and what i'm unsure about is how to deal with the carto. The vid recommends that I put about 10 drops into the threading part of the carto to "prime" it. I assumed I would just go ahead and fill up the carto with juice then fill up the rest of the tank but the vid is telling me otherwise. Now i'm not sure what to do. I would appreciate if someone with experience would please let me know the best way to fill my tank, thanks.

You do need to prime the carto. Not sure what they're talking about the "threading" part.

There are a few methods to fill/prime the carto. If the syringe is narrow enough you can put a bit of juice in it, then slide it down the top of the carto between the polyfill and the edge of the carto. Once it reaches the bottom, slowly push the juice in from the syringe. Let it soak up, then, once the tank and carto are assempled correctly, you should be good to go refilling from the hole in the tank. And make sure your cartos are pre-punched.

I hope that made some sense! It's much easier for me to perform it than describe it.

Yes, my carto is pre-punched, it came with the tank plus I purchased a 5 pack of pre-punched cartos. Should I remove the carto to fill it or leave it inside the tank? The "threading" part i'm referring to is the 510 threading, in the vid they put 10 drops of juice through the threading, so that's not necessary?

Yes, you do need to fill the carto before you put it into the tank. Doing this properly is one of the most important things that will keep the carto happy for a long time in your tank.

Check out Baditude's blog here for a great tutorial and lots of links for more info on cartos. Everything you need is there.

Only time I've filled cartos through the threaded end is by using something called the "condom method". Fill one of the removable rubber caps from either end of the carto with 15-20 drops of juice, then slowly push the threaded end into the cap until it's saturated with juice. Check out Batitudes blog posted above too.

I've had really good success using a needle and syringe. Just run the needle down the side between poly-fill and side of the carto fill from the bottom up and give it some time to saturate the poly-fill before you fire it so you don't burn the poly-fill material. Take a few dry hits to get it primed up and you're good to go.

If it's good enough for Iken, it's good enough for me!

Pretty much well blew my mind first time I saw it!

Well, that actually looks like a good method!

It's been a while time since I've used cartos. Just wanted to relay what worked best for me when I was using them. That looks like a good way to fill them!

I must admit I never actually do it that way, but what the OP said about filling from the threaded end sparked something in my memory. Took me a while to find that vid!
