I just received my new Aeolus RDA from bevapehappy. The first time I saw this atty in a photo on InstaG. I wanted it. I waited excitedly for a short two day period after placing my order. Bevapehappy ships quickly with 2 day priority for free when making purchases of $75 or more. When I got my vape mail I hastily opened the package and went straight for the small cylindrical box from Syntheticloud that contained the Aeolus. When I opened it and took out the RDA I was disappointed to find nicks and scratches along with nasty machine oil and burs along the edges of the juice well. I debated on placing a call to the vendor but thought that this wasn't their fault since they didn't make it. I then thought about contacting the manufacturer but after waiting for the extra cash to buy it and then the shipping after making my order, all I wanted to do was vape it. Fortunately I like working with tools and my hands so I decided to get out my small file set and go to it. After an hour of filing I was able to remove the burs and aside from the nicks and a small scratch that it came with, it now looks pretty good. I took it apart and placed it into my wife's ultrasonic jewelry cleaner with some hot water and mild detergent. The O-rings were hard and sticky from machine oil but after cleaning them off real good they are again soft and viscous. I used 24 gage kanthal to make two 6 wrap micro coils on a 2 mm coil jig. Once tightened down in the posts they ohm'd out at 0.25 ohms. I wicked the coils with Koh Gen Do Japanese organic cotton and juice them up with some 2mg nic, 20PG 80VG Strawberry Lemonade that I mixed a few days ago. The RDA sat on top of an EHPRO copper Overdose clone with a fully charged VTC5 at 4.2 volts. My first puff was nice, just a mild one to get the feel for the air flow and how it draws. The cloud was nice and the flavor was surprising. I took a second puff with more intent on making this thing put out and boy did it! I was shocked at how dense and chewy the cloud was and the flavor was more intense that I had expected for the build.

I am honestly please with how this device preforms. If it wasn't for the poor presentation and first impression due to the machining and oil I would be praising Syntheticloud as a top notch manufacturer. But since I had to work on the cleanup of the Aeolus myself, it is taking time but I am now slowly loving it more and more instead of being wowed from the start. I am hoping that this is a one off and not how all of the Aeolus RDA's ship. If one was able to view the device in a shop to make sure they were buying a nice clean well machined piece of hardware, then I would recommend doing so. If you have had your eye on this RDA and plan on ordering online I am here to let you know how that turned out for me. If I didn't own small files and had the confidence to fix this myself I would have tried to return it for a refund or another one if I was assured that it was going to be clean and bur free like the one that RipTrippers reviewed in his youtube video.

This is by no means a review and nor am I a credible hardware reviewer, but if I was asked to rate this product then I would do so in three categories on a scale of 1-10.

Machining/Finish Product 5
Performance 7.5
Flavor Production 9

For what it's worth, that's my :2c:

Please excuse the photo quality. I just started using the forum and have yet to figure out how to upload good images.

I just did a video on the Aeolus, I haven't made it live though. I found the nicks on mine too. There was maybe 5 different nicks on it right out of the box and it's frustrating to buy a new product, but it comes scratched brand new. I'm not a huge reviewer, but I do videos on what I get. It looks good, easy to adjust airflow, fits normal trip tips. Comes apart in the 3 pieces includes the heat sink adapter. They came anti spitback, but with twisted 28g I have had a couple times of spitbacks.

Flavor isn't the worst, but I've had better. Airflow is good for how I build coils. I have the limited edition black and something that annoyed me with mine is how hot the barrel gets after 3 pulls in a row. I considered this or another atty and wished I got the other atty. I even mentioned in my video about trying it in person before buying blindly online. So many big reviewers, Rip, suck my mod, grimmgreen all seemed to like it.

I think often times these reviewers get hand-selected items becasue many of these glowing reviews are far from what I've received. I can't wait to watch your vid...will you keep me posted on it?

It's possible, I know Grimmgreen I think has 2 so he likes them. It would make sense if they got the flawless products, I just never seen anyone mention it getting hot, but I Have seen the heatsink works so the mod never got hot. I'll probably PM you the link in a couple minutes. It's unlisted so you could watch with a link at least. I don't like posting my own videos on here although others have posted like my drill less kanthal twisting video.

Thanks for your thoughts. I've heard good things about the Aeolus and I'm considering buying one. I bought the Mutation X V3 and I can't get the screws to stay tightened down no matter what. I had one good build on it and now I can't get a good coil to save my life. I have the OG Tugboat and never had this issue. I feel like I threw $30 in the toilet. If I tighten the screws too hard, I break the coil and get a bad reading or no fire. Anything less than tightening as tight as I can results in the screws coming loose and the coil falling out.
