Aerotank V2 harsh hits?

First i would like to say im not sure if im posting this in the right place tapatalk seems to be giving me troubles.

Well i just bought a kanger EMOW starter kit and i got the aerotank v2 clearo to go along with it. I used it for a whole day vapor and flavor is both great. Just today it started giving me unbearable throught hits. I didn't change anything from the day before. Battery is set for medium voltage (4.2 volts) and three air holes open. The tank is 3/4 full and battery was just charged. The kanger bottom coils are 1.5 ohms. I couldn't figure it out so i changed the head and clean the VERY VERY LITTLE juice off of the connections. Worked great for about another full tank now its doing it again. The only way to fix it is to open the air valve all the way. Am i doing something wrong or is this sorta common?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

1.5 ohms works on it but I would go with 1.8 to avoid the burnt taste. Did you purchase the EMOW on a website or at a store? My wife bought one at a store and it has a painted bar underneath the button indicating the color/voltage settings. We think it might be a clone so that is why I ask. The issues you are describing shouldn't happen with an authentic KangerTech product. Her EMOW only charges for 10-15 minutes tops which is much shorter than the charge time should be.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are getting a burnt taste (we call those "dry hits"), if usually means your wick cannot pull the eliquid fast enough to keep up with your battery. There are a couple of things you can do:

1. Dial down your voltage. This will vaporize the eliquid at a slower rate (if your battery allows you to do this)
2. Decrease the airflow, if your tank has adjustable airflow. The decrease in airflow will increase vacuum inside the tank's atomizer, which should increase the flow of juice to the wick..
3. Take a sharp draw (or two) on your drip tip (without engaging your battery). This will pull more eliquid into the coil so that it will be available when you press the battery button and take a draw.
You will get the feel of this over time and develop a sense of how often you will need to do this to avoid "dry hits". The PG/VG ratio of your eliquid also comes into play, as VG is thicker than PG . If you use high VG try adding a few drops of distilled water to your tank to thin out the eliquid. You could also install a higher ohm coil.

Yes, letting it sit helps. I find that adjusting the airflow is almost more about regulating juice flow than it is about getting the draw you like.

For example, if you get dry hits, turning down the airflow will pull more juice (higher vacuum) and help solve the problem. If you get gurgling or popping, try increasing airflow as you're getting too much juice.

You also have to balance this with the thickness of your particular juice and the voltage that gives you the best taste. As well as how fast you normally vape.

For me, I find that a 1.5 ohm coil (dual coil design) does the best at around 4.2V. I also find that having two holes open on my tank is about right for a good balance. This is with a 60/40 juice blend.

Im almost positive it's authentic. I paid 70 for the emow kit and and 32 for the aerotank v2. Though im not home for the next few days when i get back i will check the code thing on the box

Thanks for the info and the fast reply! It makes sense now because it seems if i let it sit for about 10 minutes it works fine. Im no professional but i would say letting it sit allows more liquid to saturate into the the. Thank you for your help!

Glad things are working now :)

So i adked this question few days ago about my aerotank v2 dry hitting. People told me try lower voltage and restrict the air flow. Well i did and its been working a lot better but its still happening periodically. Even with just one air hole open and on the lowest voltage setting. Obce it starts nothing fixes it accept letting it sit a whil and hope it clears up. Im using 1.5 ohm coils. If i bump up to the 2.0 ohms will this help any? Thanks.

I couldn't figure it out. I just put a nee head in and disassembled the tank and cleaned everything. Primed the coil filled the tank and let it set for about hour and a half while my battery was charging. Worked great for about 20 minutes on 3.7 volts 1 air hole open and 1.5 ohm head. Its doing it again i can't figure it out i try uping the voltage and air flow. Its not as harsh with everything up but theres still hardly any vapor. Is it possible i have a batch of bad coils? They seem to start doing this after about 3 full tanks. Its kinda frustrating because when i first quite smoking and switched to vaping i waa using a cheap njoy battery with a criss cross clearo and honestly i had no problems. I just droped 100 bucks on this upgrade. What gives?

I haven't had this problem with my Aerotank V2. Maybe try a few dry pulls with the juice in but without pushing the button, before you throw the power to it. I was using the .8 sub-ohm coils, and just switched to the 1.5s and they both work great on my tank, with 2 holes open at 13 watts. Maybe go to a local b&m and grab a coil from a different batch and try that. I will say they only seemed to last for 4-5 tanks, but that was the .8s. haven't had the 1.5 in it long enough to know about them yet. Anyway, good luck!

Yea I tried pulling on it without lighting it up aven tried it 15-20 times still nothing. I bought it at local b&m the seemed legit. They have multiple stores up and down the Florida golf coast. The thing is that i haven't been home since i bought it. Ill be home tomorrow so i can check the scratch off number to see if its clone. But im using the replacement coils that came in the box with my battery because they are the same coils. I woild think that if the battery is legit the the coils are because thay came in the same box. Idk just starting to irritate me.

Just one air hole open might be the problem--I like my Aerotanks open or half way. I like a big open draw.

Lowest setting (3v) is a very bad idea for a dual-coil atty. You need at least 3.8-4 volts or so--at least. Do not chain vape. Make sure that your tank is put together correctly and that nothing leaks.

Good luck!

Maybe I'm misreading this thread but scotty did you say it starts acting up after about three full tanks ?

Perhaps you're just gumming up the wick and caking up the coil. A lot of juices will carmelize on the coil after a couple tanks, especially the stock coils. Have you tried cleaning and dry burning? Have you even popped off the stem and taken a good look at the coil after a few tanks when it begins dry hitting or not producing up to snuff ?

I did manage to get the stem off of one of the coils. It was my oldest one. (One that lasted the longest about a day and a half) it was a bit gummy and i understand that could be thw cause. But i mean last night i pu a fresh on last night and it started doing after about 10 hits. Im using Real Vapor-Doc Holiday. Im not sure what the pg/vg ratio is. As of now it seems to be working good i will keep track of how long it last right now i have 3 air holes open set at 4.2 volts.

Not having any bad hits on my emow at 1.8ohms and I've dialed between 3.8 and 4.8.

Rinse your coils off every second tank under warm water and let dry. After every 5 or so tanks, throw that little ....er in some boiling water for 20 minutes then let dry again. Dry burn if you want, I never do though. These things get pretty gunked up pretty quickly, which leads to at best some odd flavoring to at worst a throat shredding burning. I figured this all out when I had my evod-2's so I went in prepared with the emow. Also keep in mind some juices taste better at different voltages.
