Okay so ive seen other posts on this, and I know the basics. I would have posted on these threads, but because i am a new member i am not allowed. Ive been vaping for over a year and have not bought a pack of smokes in 8 months. I smoked 2 packs a day. 3 months ago i bought the kanger aerotank v2 and the vision spinner 2. They are legit, not fakes. I swap out my coils every 2 weeks. I fill the tank daily, and i clean the tank and coil daily. I clean the tank with rubbing alcohol, then rinse with water and dry with cotton balls. I run the coil under hot water for 5 minutes then dry it out and dry wick a few hits. I always vape at 4.8v and was using the stock coils which are 2 ohms. I have always used a 70/30 vg/pg eliquid. Once in awhile i use a 50/50 Oh and i do always let it sit for 5 minutes and dry pull afyer filling. I asked my local shop which i have been going to for 4 months if using 1.2 ohms coils would give me more vapor. This was 3 days ago. This is where my problem began. No matter what voltage I used i got a disgusting dry hit and the vapor was warm, not cool. Seriously no subtle taste of e liquid, just burnt wick. I thought maybe it was just a bad coil, but the 2nd coil i used did the same thing. The shop was cool and gave me ten 2 ohms coils for free and just wanted the 3 remaining 1.2's. Now even with the new coils i get a dry hit unless im at. 3.3v. Ive cleaned and cleaned the tank and connectors throughly. And changes out 3 dofferent coils. Even went to another reputable shop and bought just 1 coil to make sure it wasnt a bad batch. Even on 3.3 v im getting a weirder flavor than normal. After 10 hits i get a dry hit on 3.3 v. I have never had this issue until i used the 1.2 ohm wick. My shop is in awe and confused as well. I never wanted to go to a rebuidable mod, but im about too because of how frustrating this is.
Could my mod have gone bad?
Any other tips?
Thank you all for reading this short story lol.
This forum taught me alot when i started vaping, i never had to post anything until now:closedeyes:

Hello and welcome to the forum punkrocknerd. Glad to have you here!:)

Your problem is using a 1.2 ohm coil on your battery. You need to be using 1.8 ohm coils or higher or you will continue to get dry hits.

You are also exceeding the amp limitation of your battery with a 1.2 ohm coil even at the lowest setting. Not a good thing to do. That's one good way to fry a battery.

Direct to lung for large hits. Mouth to lung for small "cigarette" type hits. I do both for my current mod, woth the same results. Is it possible i shorted the battery out from the small use of the 1.2 ohms? I used it for maybe 6 drags in total before switching back to 2.0 ohms. Ive used larger mods before from friends, and hitting them is not the issue. You hit it like a tobacco water pipe.

As far as your current battery, if you can vape on it using a 2.0 ohm coil (and it is working) you should be okay.

If you like doing both then you will be able to find a new tank you like. Here are the ones you could consider:

1. Kanger Subtank -- (available in 3 different sizes) Can do both MTL & DTL hits.
2. Aspire Altantis -- I have one, it mutes my flavors. Cannot do MTL hits.
3. Delta II -- Can do DTL hits. Not sure about MTL.

There may be more available (like the Horizon Arctic) but they are coming out so fast it's hard to keep up with them.

You will need a new battery to use these tanks. Consider the iStick 30w or 50w. The 50w goes higher in wattage (not that you will need all that wattage) but it is a 4400 mah battery.

With the 2.0 ohms i am getting a dry hit at 3.3 v after 10 hits anything over 3.3 v it is dry hitting. And the flavor is basically gone from the first hit.
Awesome dead battery -_-
Thank you for reassuring a killed the battery, no forum led me to this.
Im done with kanger and these ridiculously small coils. The evo d sucked. There wasnt much improvement from the single to dual coils. Rebuilding those single coils was ridiculous. My evod 2 lasted 2 weeks :/ and i cleaned it 3 times a day. This aero tank was not impressive at all. cool backup i guess.
I want to take the occasional hit that hot boxes a room. And i want something really sturdy. Both tank and mod side. Im a clutz, and drop it all the time.
Also these new tempature control mods look sweet. If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it!
Im not against clones at all, and i an great at tinkering, so rebuilding would not be an issue

Temperature control is relatively new. The original DNA40 chip is made by Evolv. Most of the mods using these are around $180 or higher (Vaporshark rDNA40, Vaporflask).

China may have come out with a clone but I have not heard much on how well it is performing. Check out threads in the APV Discussion Forum

Istick 50w is amazing. Delta II is phenominal besides the slight whistle. I used my buddies kanger subtank mini and atlantis aspire on my new mod. The flavor and vape cannot compare to the delta II. Only complaint is the slight whistle even when open Im on 2 days of nonstop vaping at 25 watts on the .5 ohm coil and i couldnt be happier. After doing research on the istick 50w i found it has the tempature shut off alarm, so your orginal suggestion Susan-s was a great choice. This battery is not even at half dead! Got the combo on 101 Vape for $65 with a coupon code. Spent less on this than my last combo at my local shopm
Thank you all for the help.
