i apologize if this has been covered already. i search and searched before posting but all ive found are people saying pt ii coils leak in the aerotank. my current (and first real) setup is the kanger aerotank (dual coil) and a smoktech VV/VW 1300 mah battery. i want to upgrade to a certain mod i really like but right now thats what ive got. i like it except the dual coils. its too hot, kills i mean KILLS the flavor and drains my 1300 mah in like 4 hours. my fiances protank ii gives me much better flavor, cooler vapor and just about the same thick cloud, but i need the increased airflow. i want to use a single coil in the aerotank. all ive found with searches are people saying what does NOT work. so what single coils DO work well in the aerotank?

my second question is for those who use the aerotank. how do you set your airflow? i like to use mine 1 full turn from being all the way opened. i find i can get a quick puff and a nice thick vapor with this setting.

I've avoided the areotank because of the dual coils. While this won't answer your question, I went with a PT2 and added an airflow base. (sold separately for around $5) It helps solve the flooding problems, adjustable air flow, and still single coil. Frankly, my PT2 minis still work better but require more frequent filling.

You can use the PTII coils in your Aerotank, you just can't do it the other way around. The chimneys are shorter on the dual coil Aerotanks by a touch and it doesn't work.

However, almost everything on the Aerotank is inter-changeable on the Protank. The glass, the drip tip, the base, etc. Best set up is the Aerotank base in a Protank II though. I have tried all of this with no alterations

I vary my airflow based on the juice and battery. My Provari doesn't have airflow where the topper and the battery meet so it is usually wide open but with others, I do close it off.

I have the regular size PT2s with the airflow controller on the bottom. Work great.

On the aerotank, try using a second grommet flipped upside down on the tube going up towards the chimney. It will prevent the leaking and allow you to use single coils. Learned it the hard way, but the extra grommets from the dual coils you don't like work great.

I still prefer single coil and don't currently have a pt 2 (have pt 2 mini) but I thought I'd go with the aerotank as I can use single coil and if I ever wanted to use dual coil in the future I can do that too, can't do that with the pt 2.

But I'd like to confirm does it just work on is the grommet trick necessary? The aerotank costs more than a pt 2 + airflow control valve.

The dual coils that the aerotank is designed for are taller, so the center tube has a larger gap from the base. When using single coil heads (meant for pt2) there is a gap which causes leaking. The extra grommet fills the gap, and when inverted it also seals the tube around the center post. If you rebuild the dual coil heads it won't be necessary, but with singles it saves a lot of trouble.
