I just tried my first puff on my 901 starter kit this morning. I let it charge overnight, tried to read the directions, took a puff, tip light turned red....only a bit of vapor...an odd taste. Tried again. Same thing. Tried again, started flashing green, no drag. Let it rest. Made another attempt. Same steps...same thing.
Am I an idiot* (which wouldn't supprise me) and suppose to add some juice? I thought cartridges were ready to go?
*Listen I already tried inserting a cartridge in backwards!! And I've been straing my eyes for 2 weeks on this forum...I'm a slow learner...and need someone to hold my hand!!

A couple of thoughts. The atomizers come with some sort of primer on them that tastes bad until it burns off. Most members put a couple of drops of juice on the atomizer coil to help transition it to a "seasoned" atomizer. Second, your initial inhale should be a primer puff, where you puff and just blow the vapor back out and then take a slow, longer inhale that hopefully gets the atomizer working a little hotter and vaporizer more liquid. Third, make sure your carts are not too dry. They should always be moist. It's OK to add liquid to prefilled carts. You don't want it "pooling" on the top of the cart but quite moist.

The carts should be pre-filled and labeled that way unless you ordered blank carts. There is a learning curve with vaping.

Trapped within my imagination
Hi Tochay, trust me..If you're asking the question..Chances are 100's have asked before you... Just keep reading and asking.. You'll get it down.

It took me almost 2 days of short puffing to get all the nasty primer taste out of my first 901...From then on, I blow all the primer fluid out of a new atomizers and then reprime them with 2 drops of e-liquid before starting the ( puff - dont enhale, till the taste is all gone) This way it goes really much faster... ( ask if you don't know what or how to blow an atty out)

Wv2win, gives great advice on keeping your cart moist ( hope you got a spare bottle of e-liquid)... And I'd also do what wanderlust suggests.. Switch up batteries and or attys( lastly) for that matter...You have to trouble shoot from every angle..
And sometimes your ecig comes covered in primer fluid ( inside and out)... unscrew your attomizer from your battery and make sure both contacts ( where they screw back together) are wiped nice and clean...

Good luck... Once it gets going you'll be a happy lil camper ( smile)

OMG...OMG...Am I in too much of a hurry or what? I'm really not that stupid, but maybe I did burn out a few brain cells in my day.
I assumed the 'filter' that was on the ecig that was shipped was already 'loaded'....uh hum...it was empty....so I put a real cartrige in and... vwalla....vapor.
Now I'm so excited I really think this is gonna work, to get me to quit smoking. I'm going for the low & zero strengths.
I think I better start a thread called STUPID THINGS NOT TO DO!!

I just started 2 weeks ago today & when I read your OP, my first thought was "poor thing; I bet they're using the cart that came over the atty..."

NO! YOU ARE NOT STUPID!! When I got my kit, I was just lucky enough at the same time to be PMing with someone & I double checked with her, just for clarification.

No matter how long you read this forum before you get your starter kit, until you actually have the item, you are going to have questions. Then, once you get it, it will clarify somethings, yet create 100xs more questions....

let us know how the rest of the day goes!

OK--Yippie--It's working swell & now I'm so hyped I'm ordering flavors from LorAnn but since I want to go with 0 strength--it's so hard to find-- what do I use for the 'commercial e-liquid' when making my own juice. (I'm reading making your own juice: e-liquid, flavoring, glycerine, PG)
Thanks for everyones advice.........

When you say 0 strength do you mean zero nicotine? If yes Save your money and just make it yourself. No need to buy commercial e-liq. Just add your loranns flavor to some pg or vg and smoke away.
Have fun.

I'm on a rampage with questions.

When I make my own juice, I want zero nicotine. So only use just pure glycerine & flavoring...nothing else...right?

Now do I neither/either/or replace the fiber that's in the 'filter' cartridge with new fiber or rinse out the nico filled one(s) that came with it & then add the homemade juice to it.
I've read people just add juice directly to the atomizer too, with nothing no filler/fiber in the cartridge, right?

Wondering if one day I'll be able to answer newbie questions....

make sure the glycerine you're using isnt too thick... unless you're alergic, i'd suggest also having some pg on hand to mix in also. so that would mean a mix of pg, flavoring, and vg for 0 nic.

dripping or using filler is up to you, purely personal preference. the ONLY times i use carts now is going on a long drive... i load up my 801 and hit the road.

otherwise i never use the filler, and drip onto the atomizer (on my 510). only PIA about dripping is if you lose your train of thought, its possible that suddenly your next drag tastes like something burnt and disgusting... pleh!! then its time for more drops.

I'M RIGHT HERE
ok i just got my 901 yesterday, i have some noob questions of my own. i tried to look up a few things on the forum but was not able to access some threads yet. question 1- Cleaning, it seems to me the only part i would need to clean are the atty's. how do i do that , and how often?

2- it only took me 1 day to figure out that i am not a fan of filling carts, so after reading a post about driping on the atty coil, i have found i get the good throat hit i need . is this bad for the atty?

1. You will not need to clean your atomizer unless it becomes clogged or has a fowl taste. There is pleanty of discussions on how people clean the. See the cola method.
2. Yes and no. If you use too much liquid your atty can become flodded and will not work. To fix that see cleaning. Also you could get liqid down into your battery which can make the built it switch to get stuck.
Bottom line 2-3 drops will be a safe amount to use when dripping.
Have fun and good luck.

tochay thanks for starting this thread because I did the same thing this morning when I bought my first e-cig, the Njoy Pro. I was in a truck stop and there it was. I'm a two pack a day smoker and haven't had a cig for 9 hours.

Here's my question. When I puffed on the fake cartridge top while I was charging the other battery I got plenty of vapor. What is this, the primer others speak of? Even now, on my second cartridge, if I remove it and just suck on the atomizer I get a lot of vapor. What's being vaporized? I'm getting the feeling I'm inhaling toaster element residue or something. Yuck!

Wow what a stupid first post but that's my question. By the way, as a newbie I'll say that if the batteries last two days as advertised the Njoy aint a bad start to this e-cig stuff. Looking at juice already. Thanks.
