After months of vaping, I'm still a newb.

Hello, all. My name is Sam, and I am a vape-aholic.

I'm also extremely frustrated. Especially since i am writing this a second time.

I have been vaping since September. Saved lots of money by not smoking. Spent lots on vaping stuff too. I didn't even know you could buy this stuff online at first. I seriously overpaid for my first kit. Some guys on live chat turned me onto clearomizers. I didn't know what they were at first. I was using some really gross plastic mouth tip swisher cigar tip looking refillable things you plugged into an atomizer that had no fiber filling in it. Not very tasty. Thank goodness for those guys in live chat. Since then I have bought Ego batteries and 510 stuff to screw on them and try. Just got a lavatube 2.0. New to the carto/tank thing. Not liking it. Found out after I destroyed my new lavatube carto that the cartos that I bought months ago are the wrong size to go in there, and they have no plate for the tank to rest on. Still don't know how to use the cartos that I bought. Nothing like buying stuff you don't know if you want/need/know how to use. The lavatube tank/carto produced very little vapor. Tasted bad too. Pre filled the poly, nothing down the center, filled the tank, waited for it to wick...tasted like dookie. I produce more vapor when it's cold outside from exhaling. Seriously let me down. Got a new Smoktech dual coil tank on the lavatube 2.0 now. Tastes gross, but I am trying. Vapor is sub par, but better than what the thing came with. All clearos that I have tried are about the same. Ok in the beginning, but then comes the funky taste, harder draws, some leak...etc. Trying the EVOD BCC now. First really short string clearo I ever used. It's ok, for now. GOt some Ego twist VV batteries, that I keep turned all the way down. Lavatube seems to work best at 3.5-4.0 volts...still tastes bad though. I mix my own juice now. I like it, when my PVD does it's job.

It's hard to tell what I have used since I don't keep my receipts. Most of my stuff I get from SVC. It's hard to show and tell on here when I can't post pics/links etc. I'm tired of buying stuff I don't know if I need/want/know what it's for. My desires are not unreasonable.

I wanted a VV long lasting home use PVD with a big reservoir for juice. Enter the lavatube. FAIL.

I wanted a EGO sized common threaded travel, or on the go PVD, like my EGO twist with the EVOD BCC that will function well and taste good...that when it tastes bad I can clean and change the coil and go again...so far so good. But all the other tanks with changeable coils I have tried never seem to taste as good as day one, even after being boiled and using a new coil with the wick built in. Then they either just tasted bad, like I said, or leak, or gurgle and flood...always something. FAIL.

I wanted to see if I could make a carto work for me and maybe I would like it better than the clearos I had been trying over and over again. FAIL.

I still don't know what the shorter cartos I have are for or how to use them or what to use them in. Tank? Alone with just a mouth piece and drip into them directly? FAIL.

I never had found a method to sample a flavor without having to clean a clearo, and change the coil/wicks to try another. A real pain when I was trying to perfect my recipe. FAIL.

Smoketech dual coil tank on the lavatube 2.0...better than the tank & carto that lavatube sent me, but still tastes awful....FAIL.

Seems I can't win.

Maybe I will find the answers here. Maybe I will befriend a knowledgeable person, exchange phone numbers so I can send/receive pics and link to such devices that work. Maybe I will invent an implantable PVD, so I won't need to shop for something that works, and I will just use my belly button as a juice reservoir....probably not. FAIL!

Nice to meet y'all.:)

Welcome to the equivalent vaping question to the meaning of life. If there was such a device we would all own one :)

reosmods.com that is likely the closest thing you will ever get to trouble free vaping. When I bought my grand I basically fell off the map as I had no need to research things anymore. Throw a standard 510 low resistance atomizer on there such as the Ikenvape 1.8ohm and go to town.

If that is a bit pricey for you, there is also the Vmod VMOD 2.0 and VMOD XL which is a lower end bottom feeder sharing a lot of the same ideas and features.

This is basically dripping without the mess and eliminates 95% of the troubles most go through with tanks, cartos, etc. I'm in the chat all the time if you want more info on the systems and their use, I have first hand experience. As far as another alternative I will be honest in saying that no matter what anyone says everything tends to have a downfall. If you know exactly what juice you are going to use there can be a solution but if you frequently change ratios and flavors it is nearly impossible to get a tank / carto system that will work with them all without modification. Hope this helps.

Darksoul,

I will look into all that you have listed. I am going to buy new stuff anyway, so why not what is recommended first, right?

At first glance the Grand looks tempting. I like the idea of the 510 thread allowing use of whatever I want. Is the VMOD universal like that? Their site leads me to believe that only their brand of items will work with it.

Those are two potential cures for my at home use for sure, wouldn't you say? No so handy for on the go I wouldn't think though, right?

Reo will take just about anything, vmod is more picky. The grand is actually quite pocket friendly and smaller than it appears. I used to just throw mine in my pocket with a fresh battery and full bottle for the day. I know there are size comparison pictures out there I don't have any on hand at the moment.

The only downside is that they are mechanical so as the battery starts to die your vapor production will too. I never had a real issue with this personally. I only posted the vmod to show you an alternative :)

I have the VMod 2.0 and I really love it, although I would probably only just "like" it if I had paid full price. They have occasional promos and I got mine for 50% off, which is about what I feel like it's really worth given the overall build quality.

The 2.0 version has a 510 connection, can use any brand of atomizer or cartomizer. I've had mine a little over month now, use it heavily every single day, and it has performed flawlessly.

Found a video showing you most everything about the Reo.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTMYKl7WT1g&feature=youtube_gdata_player

The only part that isn't real accurate is that he says the juice cup is full a lot and it must stay upright. Once you get the feeding down you will likely rarely see juice in the cup. The Reo sub forum here is a great place and you can learn much there including the blind squonk method.

I have a couple of REOs and they are reliable. Every device my wife and i own has a 510 connector - so all tanks and the rest of the stuff is interchangeable and will fit anything. Probably like you i started with some cheap little e-ciggie and i went on to a silver bullet with tanks, just for the battery life and then after i saved a bit of cash a REO Grand for me and an eVic for her.
The best thing about a mechanical mod like a REO is that you can wash it all under a tap! The entire thing. It's very low maintenance which is great cos i am lazy!
