Walmart carries a liquid sweetener called Organic Agave Nectar, it's advertised as a sweetener.
C&H® Organic Agave Nectar Products

Would this be able to be used as a sweetener for DIY? It's already in a liquid form, so it should easily blend in. Will this work, or will the sugars cling to the atty and turn it into a crispy atty?

I have heard, and tried, agave as a sweetener. As was stated, I found the the coil seemed to "gunk up" or burn out a bit faster. There is a thread on this forum regarding sweeteners (you will have to do a search as my linking doesn't seem to be working atm). From what I recall, though, is many people use Sucralose (which I hate), Ethyl Maltol (or one of its derivatives like cotton candy). I topicality use Ethyl Maltol or (my favorite) Splendex. Good luck - hope you find a sweetener you like.
