So my last batch of clearos is in dire need of a rebuild. Yes I still rebuild my clearos using replacement wick and coil. Wind my own coils too. Anywho, I thought I would pull the CE3's back out for another go around. I havent touched them since my first dissapointment with them. Nothing but a burnt taste from them no matter what I tried. So I took one apart to disect them and try to understand what and why they taste so burnt. Upon inspection I saw nothing wrong. Clean wick, coil like new. I went so far as to replace the wick with my clearo wicks. Test fire...still tastes burnt. That's odd. BTW those coils are a PITA to restring through the rubber grommet.

Then it hit me! These coils are tiny in width so let's try something....a baby drag. I took a very short drag and counted in my head "one-one-thousand, two". It tasted great! Ok, let's try a normal long drag as this is my prefered method for a big throat hit. "one one-thousand, two one-thousand, three-onethousand, four inhale". YUCK!! Burnt tasting. Ok let's try a tiny short hit again. "one one-thousand two inhale". Yup tastes great. I believe what we are tasting is not entirely a burnt wick, but burnt dry fluid as the coil is so small it can only burn a small bit of nicquid at a time before it needs to rewick and absorb.

So that's it. I am betting those getting a nasty burnt taste from the CE3 are like me and like to take a slow long hit. Those with no problems probaby take shorter smaller hits. So what to do? Invent a verticle coil with wick that sits the entire length of a CE3 or carto. This will allow much much more nicquid to be fired with zero wicking delays for a longer, better tasting hit. Time to get my mad scientist lab up and get to working on this.

I seem to always have to take baby hits on the CE3s...the throat hit is much more pronounced than with a carto. In fact, when I go back and use the juices in cartos, I have to work much harder and don't like it.

So guess the CE3s are making me lazy LOL!

But I think I prefer that:)

You know, I read this right before I left work, and on my walk to the car I put it to the test. I had just received my order of a bottle of Cappuccino from SmokelessImage last week, and in the CE3s I was not a big fan of it. I tried taking 3-4 seconds hits of it, and it totally tasted like coffee, before it just tasted like burnt with a hint of coffee. There's a handful of other juices I had that weren't really that great in the CE3s (or cartos for that matter, but were slightly better in the cartos), I'm anxious to try them again taking shorter hits to see if that makes them as awesome as they should've been to begin with...

Thanks for the tip, I find I don't really notice that much of a difference in vapor on a 4 second hit compared to a 7 second hit, and I find it's easier to do as well. Kudos!

Gotta ask did you try to pull the posts up a tad or did you re-seat them all the way down when you cleaned them. Like you I do hard drags.. pulling the post up a tad helped that some also with higher vg liquid. I have my posts barely seated. Sometimes I still have to go slow...but not as slow as if they were fully seated.

I did on my first 5 CE3s, but that was after I had tried cleaning them and they worked like crap after that, so I can't say one way or another if it actually worked or not. I haven't tried it with the new ones I just got, but I suppose the next time I get an empty one I'll give it a try and see... Unfortunately I literally just finished filling them haha
