New "long wick" clearos not as good?

Have only two of the new longer wick clearos but both don't seem to wick as well (fast) as my older short wick clearos. Side by side I get many dry/burnt tasting hits off the long wick if I take 2-3 pulls without letting it wick for an extended period of time. Not a big deal but so far, I much prefer the short wick version. I would have thought the complete opposite results with the only advantage to a long wick is when fluid level is very low. Bummer I hate having to flip my clearo upside down after every pull and waiting...not complaining, just commenting.

With the long wick ones, you can always trim the wicks to whatever works best for you. Easier than adding longer wicks to the old ones was :)

I trim them down to about even with the the silicone nipple cap inside. Seems to work best for me.

How do you pull the wicks up/out to do that? I need to trim mine...

I use a bent paperclip to wiggle them out the top (I do one side at a time to give me as much room to work as possible), eyeball where I need to cut, then use a pair of "micro tip" Needle Art scissors I had laying around (things like cuticle scissors would likely work well too) and snip them off. Then I shake out the snipped wick, give it a good rinse to get any stray wick strands, and they're ready to go.

You could also disassemble them. There's lots of Youtube videos showing how to take them apart but getting them apart the first time is kinda finicky (at least the v1 were. Haven't taken apart a v2 yet) and it's real easy to damage them so I prefer the other way if it's one I haven't already taken apart.

Thanks!!! Going to mangle yet ANOTHER paper clip for vaping purposes.
