IMO Tiramisu is one that you need to have with extra sweetener to get the full experience. I don't feel that the chocolate really pops enough until Wlad adds that extra bit of sweetness to it.I just tried the Tiramisu for the first time, and I had the same reaction. Great smell, odd flavor. Surprisingly not sweet at all.
50/50 blend is best and helps it to hold onto the creamy notes longer (in a 30/70 VG/PG blend, the choc & coffee overpowered the cream after about 4-6 weeks). But IMO it was the addition of sweetener that really made the Tiruamisu work for me (by making the chocolate POP) and taste like a true Tiramisu should.
If you have any sweetener handy--I like to use a liquid stevia which contains only stevia, VG, water--then you can test the theory yourself and see if it helps. (Like I stated b4 tho, and this was right from his mouth, Wlad's way of "adding sweetener" is usually a little more involved than just adding straight up sweetener to a joose but it should at least get you in that direction.)
PS pls forgive me if I'm babbling or being overly loquacious. I'm on pain meds from breast surgery earlier and having to "stay on top of the pain" has made me a little loopy! I had to revise the above a few times b4 I could read it back and have it make sense even to me.
