You're a trooper, Cherry. Do you regularly taste the liquids along the way as you steep them for so long? The longest any liquid has taken to properly steep for me has been six days. I try them every day to check for changes.

Yeah, I always drip a little weekly or so. I like Sahara fresh (although it also changes a LOT over time, and I like it at two months too). The aromatic tobaccos are better fresh. Sasparilla and Cherry Cola I like fresh. Cherry and Strawberry Midnight I like fresh. Some other juices are good fresh, but better steeped. But most of the non-aromatic tobaccos need a lot of time.

Smooth Criminal fresh to me is just a big stew of cream and butter and spices. But at eight weeks (my ideal steep), it's a gorgeous throaty tobacco with a caramelish exhale that occupies my entire palate with a dry, lush sweetness. New and old SC are two entirely different animals. If someone loves it fresh -- which I've gotta say seems crazy to me -- more power to 'em. But for those like me who DON'T like it fresh, just put it away for two months and try it again. Then let me know what you think. I'm vaping it right now, and I can't imagine anything better. (Incidentally, Wlad insists it's just tobacco.)

Smooth Criminal and Cafe au lait arrived today. Both smell quite good right out of the mail. Both taste pretty nice, but subtle. Cafe au lait has a bit more flavor, and is totally vapable. It's one of the better pre-steeped coffee flavors I've had. Smooth light creamy coffee. Not sure how to describe SC yet. I'll let them both steep for a couple of weeks. I have a feeling they'll be great later, so don't want to waste them while they're just "nice".

Edit: btw, I dripped them into an IGO-L wrapped to 1.7ohms @ 11watts

1.7 at 11? Doesn't it taste burnt at that wattage? I vape 2.0ohms at 6 or 7 watts and 2.5s at 8 or 9. Any time I'm about 7 watts with low resistance any liquid starts to taste burnt.

Different tastes. Also, maybe, different equipment. What tastes good in an atty probably tastes burned in a clearo or tank. Are you also using an IGo-L?

How'd it go? I have one Vivi Nova and shelved it after all three coils in the set started tasting burnt. Thing is, I barely used them. I'd love to hear more about handling the Nova and what might've went wrong.

Well see, I opened my first big bottle of HHV Pirate's Booty the other day and it keeps slipping my mind that there are any other juices in existence.

...So I have not yet returned to my Ahlusion stash. I promise to report back when I do though!

Not at all. I know what you're saying, though. When I used Protanks, at around 2.5ohms, my sweet spot for most juices was around 8-9 watts. Rebuildables / repairables are a different situation. For example, I build my Arrow with dual coils at a total of 0.7 ohms, and using the Ba Gua - an unregulated mod, a fresh battery of 4.1v produces a theoretical 24 watts or something like that. Never any burnt flavor, as long as there's no instability, such as hot spots or shorts.

(sorry to derail the thread with technical stuff in that "btw" lol)

Ah, makes sense.

Does it? lol I dunno if I fully understand it, but that's been my experience. One last techie note: I agree with you about IGO-L vs tanks. The flavor can be a little muted in the IGO-L. There are many who disagree, however. For many the IGO-L, and other drippers, are the ultimate for bringing out flavor. I just use it because I can try flavors with just a few drops, before committing it to a tank. My ultimate so far is genesis style atties. To me they have the most flavor and vapor.

ok, no really... I'll get back on topic now

This thread is dangerous! Making me add all sorts of new flavors to my wishlist. :D

I didn't realize it got so busy in here though since my last visit so please excuse me in responding to some slightly older posts below. Just want to make sure I share what I know.

Got my first Ahlusion order yesterday. peppermint mocha, Chocolate coconut almond and Orange nocturne all went in the cupboard with their tops off as all had a perfumy aroma but seem better after just a few hours.
Curious to hear your thoughts on the Peppermint Mocha. My sister is interested in trying this one out and though I'm not usually into minty vapes, I figure that Ahlusion would know how to do mint just right, not too strong so that it overpowers the rest of the vape.

Wlad said in an email to me last week stating that Ahlusion juices should not be allowed to sit with their caps off for more than a few minutes. You might want to see what happens with normal steeping.
Did he say why? I've actually done this with all my Ahlusion juices since it's part of my usual steep process for all the juices I receive (not just from Ahlusion but from all vendors) and it hasn't seem to hurt the flavor in any way that I can tell. I usually keep it in the bread box when I do this so it's free from light and dust. I was just wondering what detriment he felt would come from doing this, loss of flavor perhaps?

Is anyone here interested in a bottle of Vurley (30 VG/70 PG 6mg, 15ml bottle with about 2ml missing)? I had traded with someone for it in the classifieds for my mom to try, but she didn't care for it. (I did score SC from that same transaction however and quite like that one.) Mom's a fairly new vaper and seems to be leaning towards the lighter, slightly sweeter blends. The threads here comparing some of A+'s tobacco juices to HHV have actually proven to be quite useful in helping me decide what to have her sample next so thanks for all that. I've been taking notes. ;)

Anyway, I'm more than happy to PIF this bottle to someone, though if you had a couple A+ juices from my wishlist that I've been wanting to sample, I certainly wouldn't turn down the offer for a sample or two in exchange (6mg preferred, 12mg acceptable). ;)

I'm torn on the Peppermint Mocha. It's balanced very well, the peppermint is lighter than I actually thought it would be, not overpowering at all.
Also, I think their chocolate might be the best Ive ever had from anywhere - very authentic but IMO their chocolate flavors do, in fact, need a bit of time with their caps off.
All that said, I've noticed there's definitely a couple of different base coffee flavor profiles out there, and I don't like the one in this. It tastes just like what's in Virgin Vapor's Kona Coffee Shake to me, and I actually detest that juice. Sort of a raw-mushroom, mildewy funk I get from it.
No offense meant to Virgin lovers, I respect your tongues: )

So all in all, it's vapeable but not a reorder for me, if this is the coffee base Ahlusion uses for all their coffee flavors and you like any of those I think you'd love this.

I also had some back and forth emails with Wlad on the review of one of my recent orders, and he said based on my hardware - use mostly a Robust and 1300 mAh Spinner for Ahlusion juices with T3's and CE5's - that I should do higher pg ratio at 30vg/70pg and that listing the vg first is the American way to denote that and the Chinese way is to list pg first - who knew!? But, for anyone using similar equipment, you might find that helpful.

That's very helpful, thanks! I haven't had any of Ahlusion's coffee flavors yet so I can't say how I feel about their coffee base, but perhaps I'll give this one a whirl on my next order to find out, especially since you've confirmed the peppermint part doesn't drown out the rest. :)

I have been a huge fan of Backwoods Brew's sweeter tobaccos. I may have to try out Ahlusion from all the great things I've heard. Sounds like they've got some great flavors which would hit me just right.

Chai Tea, Mango Lassi, Wild Wood blends, Pineapple Upside Down Cake, the Maple flavors... I've got an order ready to go just perusing their site for a minute :p If they made a Peach Cobbler I would love to try that too!

Woody

This is some days late..but you should seriously try their Peach Tarte Tatin..it's to die for, like the most awesome fine dining peach pastry desert.

The only reason to take the caps off is to let alcohol evaporate. And there's no alcohol there; any used in the making of the liquid is already evaporated during the mixing process.

Are you calling me crazy:laugh: I must just love all the stages of Smooth Criminal

Okay, in the interest of science, I just tried some fresh Smooth Criminal -- and then tasted it side-by-side with a bottle from May 15th. I can see how someone might like the new juice, but I don't much. It's very sweet and savory, with almost none of the tobacco impact that grows as it ages. All the cream and spiciness just makes it seem like too much is going on. The old juice is really different; all the components of the fresh version focus themselves into the golden caramelish sweetness and a rich, dry tobacco that is wonderful on the throat and in the nose. Mmmm.

So, we like what we like. Old SC is the one juice I like best of all. New SC is at best just okay to me.
