Mozz, have you tried the Caramel Wild Wood or the (reformulated) Vanilla Wild Wood yet?

CWW is always in my daily rotation. It's probably my current favorite, close to Boba Tea and Smooth Criminal. Never tried VWW, but I like Vurley. I'm sure I would really like VWW.

Mixology Edition sampler pack is in da house They all smell pretty good, but I'm wondering if Castle Long may have lost something with the barrel aging. Smells a bit less complex. We'll see.. First up is Fifth Rank.

And I know it's everyone's opinion/preference, but which is the best mixture (for you)? VG or PG? I was thinking more VG since I've been getting a scratchy throat and seeing if that helps.

I think you can request a sample with non XPress orders over $25 or something. Not all flavors are available as samples, however, so you should make sure you check before requesting. I've never got a sample myself.

I always get 50/50 for Ahlusion.

I personally normally vape higher vg juice and get most flavors in 70/30 (note Ahl lists VG first so that is 70vg/30pg) knowing they really benefit from a good steep. I try them fresh then put them away for 2 weeks or more. The tobaccos, however, I order 50/50 and get better flavor than 70/30. I think most recommend 30/70 (vg/pg) but I do better with higher vg and a longer steep. They do have a knack for making higher vg flavors simply awesome.

If you order $20 or more not including the Xpress line or aromatics you are entitled to a 10 ml sample. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. You just put your request flavor, nic level and vg/pg ratio in the comment section. Not all flavors are available as samples; it will say in the description of the flavor.

ok Fifth Rank is dominated by "horehound herb" I get very little of the other components in the "tasting notes". Maybe hints. It's ok I guess.

Next, I tried Sixty-Four. hmmm mostly mint mojito, but I do detect a bit of dill. Don't get any lemon or cucumber. An odd one.

No keepers so far.

Mixology continued: Perpetual Check lives up to the tasting notes fairly well. Primarily black currant, but I get hints of the rest. It's good, but I probably wouldn't order it, considering the 5P premium.

Anyone know if adding mint/menthol adds a weird flavor to the juice? I like the coolness without the mint/menthol flavor.
I used to hate menthol flavors so i never added it to my Ahlusion Juice but i recently tried Frosty Peach from The Vapor Chef and loved it!

The mint levels of the mint/menthol options definitely can. I got some Melon-Berry Frost with "Flurries" and I didn't like it one bit. I asked the mint/menthol levels in a feedback email, and Alley told me I should try "Breeze". So on my next order, I got that and it was perfect! I think I might still have the email where she told me what the levels of menthol without mint are. I'll try to dig it up and edit my post with them if I find it.

edit: Found the email. All she said was that "Chill" is the next level up of menthol.

Wrapping up my Mixology sampling: Lucena is pretty nice. Light white peach with subtle rum. Castle Long is my favorite of the bunch. I like the "Reserve" version better. I guess the oak barrel aging works for me. So, it's the only one of the pack that I'd order. I'd try to get Reserve, even at the extra cost, but would get the plain CL if CLR wasn't available.

It can, especially with the more subtle flavors. I like nicotine, so I don't notice it much. Been getting 18mg lately (was at 12mg for a while). If in doubt, and you don't need a lot, err on the low side.

Yes, that's exactly how you do it. Put the request in the comments. Be sure to specify the flavor, ratio, and nic strength. Also check to make sure the flavor doesn't say "Not available as a sample" or is an aromatic tobacco. I always make sure to say "Thank you!" too.

hmm are you not a fan of caramel, or maybe vanilla lets the tobacco come through more? I'm also considering Gold Member, cos I love Ahl's caramel. Already have Car-Mal Mambo, tho.
