AIOS Atomizer

So...

I got a Chi You clone from Dragonfly E-cigs (manufacturer unknown) and really liked it, but had a few minor issues with the construction. It is much nicer than the fasttech version, but not quite wonderful.

I did some more research, then ordered the Hcigar version...MUCH MORE SATISFYING.

I also picked up 2 AIOS clones (Hcigar).

These atomizers are really interesting. They are top-fed Genesis atomizers. (The coil is at the bottom with the tank above it.) After a few botched builds, I now have a stainless (400) wick/coil (32g Kanthal) setup, which hits strong and consistent...EXCEPT:

I have found they have a propensity for epic flooding. (Once it starts to flood, it dumps the WHOLE tank.) This seems to start mostly if/when I tilt the device while vaping (e.g.: relaxing on the couch).

Does anyone have experience with these? Any specific suggestions?

I love the integration with the Chi You, as well as the vape I'm now getting from them, but don't want to keep making a big mess (or having to carry a rag all the time) and wasting large amounts of juice.

Thanks!

It took me a couple of tries to get the AIOS set up and working to my satisfaction.

The 2nd try was a big success and fairly simple...

I used 400 mesh. Cut @ a 1 inch wide section, and probably a couple inches long to have something to work with. I rolled it tight, but still a straw, and just enough so that it pulled in and out of tank without to much resistance, and it fit snuggly in the insulator in the base. I did the typical torching and a couple of juice burns on it at this point.

I pre-coiled the wick before installing it in the base, using a 4/5 wrap of 30 gauge kanthal, then installed it in the base. I forget the exact spec, but it is somewhere around 1.2Ω-1.4Ω, which is where this thing seems to be happiest. My first build was sub-ohm and was bad for dry, burnt hits. And of course, I test fired the coil on the base to work out the hotspots which proved to be fairly quick and easy.

Finally, I cut the wick so that it only goes up into the tank about 1/4", making sure the "straw" end remained open in the tank.

This setup has worked so perfectly for me, that I have no plans to change it until the coil quits. The only time there is a flooding issue, is when I open the tank to fill it before it is actually empty. A few seconds holding a paper towel under the air holes fixes that up. I've since learned to just vape it till it's dry and then fill. No problems then. I always fill it buy unscrewing the cap with a coin. IMO, this is the best way to not disturb the wick and coil in the base. Quick and easy. It's been so dependable, that it travels in my pocket.

I can't say enough good things about this tank. No dry hits, just great flavor and vapor. It's quickly become my go-to favorite. I should add that the liquid I use in this setup is a 60/40 pg/vg blend, but I've also tried 50/50 with this and it also worked just fine. I've got some 100% VG that I may try at some point, but I've been in no hurry just because it works so damn well.

The wick build is the key. Best of luck to you!
