Jim, I've wondered why they were EVER allowed. The prohibition is no surprise. Think how very easy it would be to convert a penstyle or larger e-cig to a weapon. An electronic jammer. A single-shot pistol. A nerve gas dispenser. A deadly laser.
You have a battery, a button triggering mechanism and a cartridge for containing whatever you'd like. Can't take the chance these days. We have a growing list of airlines that prohibit them (just as the list of countries grows!) but a shrinking list of airlines that will allow them to be freely carried on and/or used in flight.
Think lawsuit if the worst happened. Plan for that possibility. That's the way the thinking goes. It's understandable that they would be banned.
surely the same could be said about any electrical equipment. the ipod has an electrical supply, button triggering mechanisms, space enough to add all that james bond stuff your talking about. same with a psp, a ds, a laptop. these are all ok to use on a plane so i dont see the difference.
if we are all going to live in fear because everyone and everything is a potential bomb, weapon of mass destruction, out to kill everyone else etc then the terrorists have won. all these crazy laws are taking your freedom away, not granting you it
