I recently flew from California home to AZ. I got dropped off at the unloading curb and checked my bags immediately. I went in, used the restroom & then remembered that my e-cig was still in my purse. I had planned to just check it in my bag so I wouldn't have any issues. I ran out to where I checked my bags but they were already gone. I explained my situation and they told me not to worry about it, I would make it through security okay & they were allowed. The guy knew exactly what it was & said it wasn't a problem, I could take it on the plane. That was Southwest Airlines, each airline may have their own policy so just tell your friend to call the airline & ask. I didn't have any problems though.

Just flew from Utah to Spokane.....I had no problems in SLC airport with security at all.
Flying back Spokane airport security check did check my E-cigs out I told them what it was and the security officer and I had a great conversation about them and she was thinking about trying them out. On the plane I had a small 25 min layover in Boise and was needing a vape.....I took my 510 out and vaped a little in the seat while they cleaned, blowing out in my sleeve. They I just went to the bathroom to get some good puffs, blowing in the sink. No prob at all and I was good to go. The man behind me really smelled like smoke and I know he had to be jonesing for a cig ....I am glad I dont have to feel that anymore.

I live in Spokane and I was wondering what the reaction would be at that airport. It's good to know that people are able to get them past security with out much of a problem.

I have never had any issues when they were upright in a camera bag.

My son visits his mother every other weekend, so it has been over 8 weeks of doing this, all issue free.

I had the case laying down and was questioned yesterday, and they (2 TSA agents) stated that they had never heard of them. I'll lay them down again tomorrow, and see what happens.

(Some Southwest scatter-brained twit told me they would set off the smoke detector... I stopped and then soon after asked Customer Service. They called down and stated this was fine to use. I show them the device in effect blowing vapor toward/near them to give them educated input upon my exit.)

Bullseye 13ways;
I took a couple of quick hits off my box mod at IAH (Outside), and the security guy told me to go to the smoking area. I held it up to show him, and said "It's a vaporizer". I ended up explainig the whole e-cig concept to him. He walked away with my e-mail address so he could get more information.

NICE!!!

I have an e-mail in AGAIN to SouthWest Airlines about the Actual Usability in the terminal. The last one didn't answer my question. I hope they answer it correctly and I can carry a copy of the e-mail with me. (I have been asked to stop vaping because the smoke detectors would go off in the terminal. She was a bit scatterbrained.)

I vape in the terminal, but I keep a low profile. People think it's smoke, and that starts problems. Airport officials have the right to tell you not to do it, even though it's not illegal.

BTW; SouthWest has banned e-cig use on their flights. They added e-cigs to the list of unapproved "in flight" items in their magazines.

Dear [the86d?],

Thank you for your e-mail regarding personal vaporizers. My apologies for the delay; I wanted to ensure I gave you accurate information.

I double-checked, and personal vaporizers are allowed through the Transportation Security Administration's Security checkpoint (and thus, allowed on your person), however, as you mentioned, the pv cannot be used onboard the aircraft.
I hope that this information is useful to you. Thanks again for contacting us.

Sincerely,

[NotDisclosedOnThis4um], Southwest Airlines

The file reference number for your e-mail is 1.......
-----------------------------------------------------

My question was "Are they allowed to be used in the terminal?".

I believe that the people that work this "e-mail answering service" should have at least graduated High School! Going to ask YET again... and reference the original reference number!

(This was also posted in the TSA thread today...)
