I have an AL85 and the coils that came with it finally burned so I went and bought new coils the vape shop only had M2 coils in and I am new to vaping so they looked identical and the wattage range was about where I used the factory coils so I bought them.

It is a M2 .25ohm it installed fine and seems to work however I noticed it heats up a little more then the 0.6ohm and 0.4ohm factory coils

I just want to know if it is safe to use or is this additional heat a sign of bad things to come using these coils? I did find out these M2 coils were designed for the STICK V8 which has the same tank as my AL85.

Hi and welcome,
How many watts did you use with the .6Ω and .4Ω coils?
Start the .25Ω off at about 50W and adjust up to a max of 65W.
You may need to increase your draw strength and speed to keep the coil cool.

Cheers

Hi and welcome. If the coils fit, work and don't leak, I wouldn't worry about it. Note also the .25 coil is about half the resistance of the .4 you were using earlier. It would be entirely normal for a lower resistance coil to get hotter at the same wattage. You're not gonna burn anything out, but you may not like the vape or flavor as much as you did the higher range coils. BTW, coils can be bought online; generally cheaper than at the vape shop. If you're using eBay, go for a "trusted seller," because cheap knock-offs are sometimes sold as "real" Smok coils, even by honest people. Unless they're serious vapers themselves, they might not know. Bear in mind also, buying some stuff from your local shop helps keep them in business, so they can help you when you need it.

The M2 .25 has a stated power range of 30-60W. I wouldn't take it much above 60W if at all or risk shortening it's life span.
