al85 needs fixing

baby beast and whatever the stalk coils are. trying to fix it for a friend. I have tried two baby beasts a rdta and an rda all of them are triggering the "no coil" warning. I am currently checking the al85 with a baby beast with a 0.4 coil head.

that did not go anywhere that would have taken me to the firmware upgrade stuff. all that was an article on how great their products are and how to use their update firmware. and it did not have a link to the updates.
Here is the SMOK upgrade tools/firmware page. I don't think there is an update for the AL85, yet.

how old is the al85 model? 3 years? anyways I still need to figure out why my al85 keeps triggering the "no coil" warning on working tanks.
'Bout a year, I think. So you have confirmed that the tanks are working, by testing them on other devices? Do any tanks or toppers work right on the Alien? If it's not simply a case of not making contact at the 510 pin (is it springy? It's supposed to be springy), then you might have a broken wire internally somewhere. If you're not handy enough with a soldering iron that that's something you feel comfortable tackling on your own, then no amount of over-the-internet "coaching" is gonna get you there. Take it in to a professional to have it done right.
yes, I used them on my alien. so they work. the 510 pin is a little springy. doesn't digging through the device void the warranty? I really don't want to void the warranty just yet.
If it's still under warranty, just get a replacement? (And legally, "unautorized" repair isn't enough to void a warranty on its own, they have to be able to show that it was done "improperly," too. Just opening it up and having a look around shouldn't* void anything.)
*(but their legal team might be more highly paid than yours.)
Hey, according to Apple, it was always water damage that killed the phone. They could even point at the little strip of paper they claimed would only change color if you drowned your phone. Too bad for them science works and that was debunked.
OTOH, it's a lot harder to hide your own solder work.
