My wife has asthma and on occasion she will get an attack that her meds will not take care of. I have her take a few vaps with a 50/50 or higher pg ratio and in every case it has knocked out her problem. Not sure if it is the combination of her meds and the pg or just the pg in the vape that does it but it has worked beautifully on several occasions.
Good Luck

Thanks for everyone's response. I guess my question is with using albuterol which liquid would be best for me...higher pg or higher vg but you've all actually answered that question. It depends on the person. I noticed last night I woke up in a uncontrollable fit of coughing after vaping all last night. I use 50/50 ratio but also I didn't drink very much water afterwards. Trial and error I suppose

Drink lots of water. The pg could cause a throat irritation to so keep an eye on that

quitting smoking? how long you been vaping? first time experiencing this? spit up anything nasty during the coughing fit? or just a dry cough?

there's a transition period that ex smokers go through where the body is healing and the cilia start to work to work up all the tar and garbage you've accumulated. you may be going through this or you may just need to hydrate better.

VG as well. they both dry you out.

albuterol also IIRC.

you're going to go through quite a bit of changes. vapors tongue, chest/lung crap evacuation, coughing fits. it's all part of the transition. if anything alarms you, feel free to come back and ask if it's normal. if it seems severe, consult a physician. a lot of things vapers go through are their own plights and some blame it on vaping and think we'll have the answers. sometimes (like in your case) it's completely normal and a known side effect or phase of the transition. sometimes a person gets the flu or a horrible sickness, blames it on vaping and gets seriously belligerent when we refuse to play online doctor.

each person has their own set of symptoms/their own road to recovery. some go through more, some go through less.

for now, just keep on trucking on and keep hydrated. sounds like everything's fine and going as expected.

Yes, I use albuterol. Sounds more like you are having the normal problem of adjusting to vaping. It really does dry you and your throat out. Found a bit of yogurt, ice cream or something like that helped a lot at first. Something that "coats" your throat. Your body will adjust to it but it's a royal pain sometimes until it does. I use 80/20 pg/vg but you have a sensitivity or preference to one over the other, don't think it makes much difference. Drinking more water can't be stressed enough. If you have to pee every ten minutes, you're good. :D

My doctor at least listens to what I have to say. If he kept insisting it was oil, I'd get a new doctor too. :glare:

reminds me of a hospital visit i once endured. wife broke a cuneiform. while looking at the x-rays and pointing at the obvious crack, the nurse referred to it as a tibia.

Thank you beckdg you have made me feel a lot better lol I was thinking it was normal from what I read but it's difficult going through it lol hopefully it will either pass or get easier soon

more than welcomed. just take it easy. take it day by day. stay hydrated. and last but not least, we're here for you. (well, normally not me, but someone with some sense and knowledge)

Several ecig sites say that, "VG is made from pure vegetable oil, which comes from palm and/or coconut oil."

No wonder it tastes sweet and is used in so many moisturizers. All I really know is that my doc likely knew what he was talking about because too much of it in my ejuices makes my chest tight. My friend experiences the same thing, so we usually keep our VG to 20% or less in our ejuices and that doesn't seem to cause a problem.

Glycerol (aka vegetable glycerin/glycerine) is not an oil, but an alcohol. Notice how it's soluble in water, instead of separating? Oil doesn't do that. Your doctor might be a proficient MD, but he'd make a rather poor chemist.
