I received an order of favoring from Wizard Labs today. In total- I have 12 flavors to play with here. I am too tired to mess with this tonight-so I will be making some eliquid tomorrow. (Hopefully, my question will be answered by then)

The last time I put an order in for flavorings, I bought them from Mt. Baker Vapor. The flavoring from MBV appeared to be PG based......and the flavoring I just got from Wizard Labs, appear to be alcohol based.

With the MBV flavors, I was using roughly 20% flavor in my mixes. I have not yet used alcohol based flavors and need to know if I am supposed to be using less, more, or the same amount????

Any help\advice would be greatly appreciated.

Wierd, because I've ordered a few flavors from Wizard before and they've been PG based...but ethyl alcohol based stuff often leaves a harder throat hit. I think it leaves a weird taste to the juice too. I'd definitely shoot for PG base if you can. As for the strength of mixing, i'd mix at around the same % as you would PG.

I have some alcohol based flavor liquid. It was good pretty much right out of the bottle with little evaporation needed. I just broke it out recently, and it is a lot harsher and alcohol tasting. I'm letting it sit and evaporate a little bit. I'm theorizing that the flavor dissolved in the alcohol has slightly separated from it, giving it a chance to be mixed with the PG&VG. Maybe I'm just crazy and shouldn't be pulling illogical thoughts out of my .....

This is what it says on Wizard labs website regarding the flavors. Apparently it IS in PG......I hadn't even considered it-due to the VERY strong smell of alcohol

8ml glass vial.

Concentrated Apple Candy flavoring by The Flavor Apprentice.
Apple Candy concentrated flavoring is FDA approved for use in food, beverages, and products for human consumption.

Ingredients: Nat. & Art Flavors, PG, Ethyl Alc.

All Wizard Labs flavor concentrates are undiluted, full strength concentrates from the manufacturer, and contain no Diacetyl.
Recommended usage is to test at 5% flavoring in your solution, and adjust to taste.

Wizard Labs suggest staring at 5%......I have been using around 20% with the MBV flavors. Thanks for the info-I think I will start low and go from there and see what happens.

IMO Wizard Labs flavorings are usually best around 5%, lower for some like Tobacco Absolute and Cappuccino, higher for others like some of the fruit flavors. It's a bit of trial and error, so I suggest leaving space in your mixing bottles to add flavoring if it needs it. Also, a couple flavors are indeed pure alcohol base, Maple sticks out in my mind, and that tasted horrible even at 1% and mixed with other flavorings, reeked of the alcohol..this is after leaving it uncapped and shaking vigorously to try and evaporate some of the alcohol out.

I tend to stay away from TFA flavorings myself, as I find they either taste perfume-y or alcohol-y no matter what is done to them, but this is my personal opinion, and I'm sure some will say the same of LorAnn, Flavor West, Capellas, and other flavoring makers that don't spring to mind. Taste is subjective, and I suggest trying a variety of flavorings from different manufacturers..I have TFA Peanut Butter and LA Peanut Butter, and they are radically different, both are actually quite good though, despite what I said about avoiding TFA. I actually find myself using both in the same juice to give a more well-rounded taste, and that may be something to try with flavors available from both, I know there are several that Wizard Labs stocks from both companies.
