Aldi-UK. 5volt torch mod ?

Aldi have some Maglight type torches in their special offers.

What makes this one interesting is that it is longer than normal and the switch is a separate unit that sits on top of the batteries.

After proding around a bit the switch unit has come out and by cutting a couple of plastic lugs off the switch is now a push to make.

2 wires where the bulb went
Regulator should sit under what was the lens
Lens changed for some type of washer that will hold the Atty.

Well to be honest so do I.
I got someone to make up my box mods.

Me and solder dont go together, I just melt everything within anout 6 inch. (apart from solder that never ever melts )

Maybe save some money by getting it all ready but
I have found a problem already.
The switch connects earth but I think the regulator works on negative earth. Maybe just isolate the atty body from earth and not mount it on a washer after all.

Maybe just use it as a torch.........will it go back together again 8-o

That's certainly a bargain price, I might get a couple to play around with myself at that price!

I'll stick to the simple stuff though, like 3.7 or 6v. I think I'll have a hard enough time doing that let alone trying to put a regulator in there.

I take it take it takes two aaa s ?

I must admit of freash atties 3.7 is fine but I do like 4.8.
Its just so much easyer to get results. Hot vapour and lots of it!!!!
6v mods scare me a little.
