I've looked a bit but can't find a good thread that explains all these. What are they good for? What are they bad for? Which is more universal? Which is less? You get the idea. Is there a thread with pictures that fully explains these fittings? No sticky that I've seen, but it would make a good one IMO. Sorry if I've bricked out and just walked past it 50x. Thanks!

LOL. Relax. The numbers refer to the size of the threads. As a result, they also refer to the size/type of mod. For example, from what I can tell, The eGos and 510s are somewhat interchangeable, 8801s (not 801s, lol) are the minis, etc. This is only important once you decide on your device. For example, right now I'm vaping on an 8801, while I wait for my E-power. I've ordered some 510 cartomizers, which won't fit on my 8801, but will fit on my E-power, which is why I ordered them.

It is confusing at first. I assure you, once you have your first kit in your hands it gets a whole lot easier to understand.

Very basically (someone more knowledgeable will correct me if I'm wrong) 510 threading is the most common for a wide range of good PV kits - e-Power, eGo, and eGo clones eg KGO. This means you'll be able to choose from a pretty wide range of cartomizers, atomizers, drip tips and other delivery systems for your juice.

NO RELAXING! lulz. Thread sizes for metric are stated as "MX" where the "X" is a number from say 1.6-27 mm. Standard threads are stated like 1/4x20 and such. It's not that I am confused about it reffering to a thread size, Per se. It's just that those numbers are not really thread sizes themselves. I'd like a little education on them is all. I'm a bit supprised there isn't a sticky on this subject as it's one of the issues noobs like myself run into. I've got that the 510 is likely the most standard to date. I've ordered 510 atomizers and tanks for my stuff. Was just curious what the rest are about. Pics and a brief description would clear me (lots of folks I'd imagine) up.

You're right. They're not thread sizes in the traditional sense. Think of them as thread styles instead. Unlike a 510, some of them, like the 808, use a male thread on the battery side and a female thread on the carto side.

The 510 is the most common. To confuse you even more, some other styles fit on a 510, for example a 306, (and maybe a 901) atomizer/carto fits a 510 threaded battery connector. But their drip tips won't fit a 510 atomizer. Many people prefer a 306 atomizer for dripping. It's built differently than a 510 atty and makes a hotter vapor. But it does fit a 510 battery connection, hence 306 refers as much to a style of atomizer as a size of thread.

Also, a 510 carto/atty fits an ego thread. But a carto/atty made for an ego won't fit a 510 without an adapter.

Fortunately, unless you're particularly fond of 808 cartos, and some people are, you can just stick to 510 threading because they make 510/* adapters and nearly every type of carto/atty/tank made is made in a 510 version.

Best thing to do is go to some vendors sites and look at the different attys and cartos. A good one is Ikenvape.com because they have a lot of atomizer styles and good, clear photos where you can see the differences in construction.

I'm guessing that some of this came about with how ecigs were initially made. From what I've read, there was some debate early on about what atty was best and it sort of gradually evolved into the 510 being the "standard." Some say that 901 offers better flavor and pairs well w/ certain juices. If you buy a 510 you can buy adapters to different sized attys like the 901 so that you can see what works for you.

The 306 atomizer does not have the same exterior casing as a 510 but will fit 510 threaded PVs. You will need to buy a special 306 drip tip to use it and I typically use the 306 with bottom feeding mods.

Everyone has different favorites and is just something to add to the variety that you can enjoy w/ your hardware.

Hope that I didn't confuse you more! Think you did great by ordering a 510.
