Ok all....I am down to my last 9 cigarettes (and I'm going out for a bit so they should be gone soon)....and I am planning on trying e-cigs alone from here...any suggestions? I've been vaping for 2 months now and completely quit smoking while at work and am ready for the next step. Wish me luck!! Any suggestions from ANALOG QUITTERS is welcome.

stay away from situations where you usually smoke regular cigarettes if possible, certain environments trigger the need/want for a cigarette.. so if possible, avoid them for a little while... also if you want a cigarette, make yourself wait 5-10 minutes until you light up or only smoke half of it... possibly if you wait the 5-10 mins your urge to smoke may pass and you may just forget about wanting to smoke at the time altogether GOOD LUCK!!

1. Buy an extra atomiser, battery, and bottle of juice in a new flavor.
2. Puff the e-cig all the time. Just for fun--enjoy making big clouds. You don't have to inhale into your lungs--just whenever you feel like it.
3. Tell yourself you can go get real cigs anytime you want--just as long as you promise yourself to puff the e-cig for 5-10 minutes, and then try to forget about having a real one for 5-10.
4. If you give in and drive out for a pack, no more smoking in the house. Any real cigs must be smoked outside in the cold.
5. Don't go out (ie out socializing with alcohol involved) for 7-10 days.
6. Don't think that slipping and having a real cigarette or 4 is a big failure. Lots of people who quit other ways do find, yes, just having 1-2 leads right back to a pack a day within a week. But I (and many others) have found quitting tobacco with an e-cig means that--once you get a taste for it and start to prefer it to regular smoking--a little slip due to alcohol, stress, or dead-batteries is just a little slip. Very little effort to get back on the wagon.
7. Look at them side by side, and say to yourself "That one gives me cancer, and that one doesn't. Which do I want now?"

1-6 are what I did. No smoking in the house, puff all the time, real cigs allowed outside after giving the e-cig a fair 20 minute chance to be sufficiently satisfying. The number of real cigs I had just dwindled until one night I went to bed thinking "Hm, I didn't smoke today."

All great advice given!!

Don't beat yourself up if you sneak a smoke. Some stop right away, others dwindle down. You're heading in the right direction and you didn't become a full on pack a day (or whatever) smoker overnight so... Also you will get to a point where the analog is just damn nasty and you don't want it!!!!!!

And pop in here for some support!! Good luck! You're making progress :D

These are some excellent tips! Useful to myself as well. I am a fairly new vaper. I have been vaping for a couple of months, but I smoked analogs for 12 years, 1+ packs/day. I still want one sometimes, especially when alcohol is involved (lol). I keep a pack in the car hidden away, in case of an extra-stressful situation, or my car breaks down in the middle of nowhere and I have to wait for hours, or some such incident. Otherwise, I haven't touched an analog since I got my first kit in the mail. :) Hopefully you'll have the same luck. And I agree... For anyone who is brand-new at this, or just curious, try a bunch of different flavors from different suppliers. You'll be surprised at how different the same flavors taste/vape from only 2 different suppliers.

GOOD LUCK! <3

Go high voltage! I vaped for several months, but still smoked about half a pack a day. Down from 1- 1 1/2 a day. When I got my xhaler, I just stopped (except about 3 analogs a week) I couldn't go back to smoking and vaping with hv if I wanted to. If you break down and have a cig, like kp said, no smoking in the house or the car (this was my big smoking place) Winter is a great time for this, because standing out in the cold rain/snow really sucks.
Good Luck, and don't beat yourself up if you do smoke an analog. You didn't become a full blown smoker overnight and quitting may not happen overnight either. Any cut-down is progress :)

It took me 11 days to go from 3-4 packs a day to not smoking. I got down to 2-3 cigarettes a day (which was easy) over the last three days of smoking (day 9, 10, and 11). Then I decided, “Ok tomorrow I am not going to have a cigarette”. One day has now turned into 19 days without a cigarette.

I recommend increase your nicotine level a bit and then cut down to just a couple cigarettes a day for a few days. After that, just say to yourself, “I can go one day without a cigarette”. You will see that one day without a cigarette will not be too hard to accomplish and you will continue from there.

Do not think about never smoking again because this may seem like a monumental task. Take it one day at a time. Not smoking for one day is relatively easy, then not smoking the next day is even easier because you already accomplish this the day before. Just take baby steps.

i started off with no analogs within the first week, then a bout of heavy drinking made me have 3 in one night ( ran out of battery life )
now i go drinking and do not crave it,
i take one, light it, then let it burn out - maybe nostalgia

now going anywhere without analogs doesn't affect me

Keep it going. I been thru your phase. Next mile stone is to see if you could gradually overcomes the HTM (hand-to-mouth) actions.
