Hi all,

Been lurking for a few weeks just soaking up all the info before I dive head first into vaping. The only vaping I have done was with an 808 auto V2 battery. My father in law let me try it with a brand new cartridge and it lasted nearly all day for me. I took an immediate liking to it and knew this would work for me.

That was several months ago and I'm almost ready get an eGo kit and give it a fair shot. I currently smoke about 15 cigs a day and plan on starting with 18mg/ml juice. Right now I'm just waiting until I can afford a kit and a few juices to start, and then another juice and atomizer purchase when I know for sure I like it. There are no local stores that have very competitive pricing ($10 for 10ML), so all my purchases are going to be online.

Just wanted to say Hi and thanks for all the information!!!

Moose

Hi and welcome!

Congratulations on your journey so far, You may not have a kit yet, but you've got the mind set. You say you are waiting until you can afford it, what is your budget right now? We might be able to find you something.

ETA: Another idea is Smokie. He is a well known member of the vaping community and with donations from a couple of vendors helps 2 or 3 vapors each week get kits. He asks that you write to him directly and tell him your story. There may be someone in more need than you are at the time you write to him, but you never know. It's worth a shot. smokie901@gmail.com

You can see Smokie on a web show called "Mod Envy" on the Nova Broadcasting site on Saturdays starting at 10PM EST. It's an interesting show with lots of give-aways.

I am in no way affiliated with Mod Envy, I just like the show. :)

Welcome to ECF, and an Ego Kit is a good start. Not sure how much you are planning on spending and how you feel about the VV ego style batteries, maybe you can give us an idea of what you are looking at. I would tend to shy away from no name knockoffs, simply because they are very hit and miss, and you will be busy enough without equipment failure.

True...needs to be a genuine Joye Tech product. My advice...don't buy from Ebay. I bought an Ego C from Ebay and thought it was the real deal and all, since you know, they were calling it an Ego. How wrong I was...it was a knockoff and didn't work properly. Went into the garbage the next day.

I've been studying hard so I can make informed purchases. I would like to keep my budget close to smoking. Which will be hard at start up but within a few months I feel I can save money.

Analogs are rather cheap in Kentucky compared to the rest of the country. $33.00 for a carton of Pall Malls. Which means I spend around $2.50 a day on cigs.

Have been looking at a kit at Vape Dudes that comes with 3 10ML bottles of juice for $37.99 or a Smoktech kit at Empire Mods for 28.99. I've read good things about Smoktech but kind of wondering about the eGo at Vape Dudes. BTW I plan on getting juice through Mt. Baker Vapor.

Thanks for any and all advice!

Posting links would be a good idea, so we can see what comes with the kits. :)

ETA: Check out this one: http://www.venerablevaping.com/eGo-Dual-Mini-Protank-Glass-w1100mah-Battery-Starter-Kit-_p_101.html

"eGo" is a style of battery, not a brand. The name brand is Joyetech, but kits with authentic Joyetech batteries are not in the price range you're looking at. While it's true that people have fewer problems with the name brand, generic eGos often perform well. The quality can be hit or miss, but if you buy from a reputable vendor chances are the quality is acceptable. Venerable Vaping specializes in offering inexpensive kits to new vapers. There's another company as well, but I can't remember the name. If I think of it I will post it.

Have you ever ordered from them or know them to be a reliable source? I'm having a hard time figuring out where to go to get my first kit because there are so many websites out there, frankly some of them look like scams. I'm on a tight budget and really looking for something that is going to last me a bit. I'm not going to be able to afford getting another kit a week or two after starting with one.

I don't think I have ordered from them, or if I have it wasn't recently. I know of them through Smokie901. They are one of the vendors who donate the kits he gives to new vapers in need. I would have no problem ordering from them, but they haven't had anything I want.

If you can afford a kit in the $70 range, there is a very nice kit at My Vapor Store with authentic Joyetech Twists/Vision Spinners that is a bit more advanced.

I know that Litecig USA and My Freedom Smokes both sell genuine Joyetech products.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!
However, my wife surprised me with a kit on Christmas and I am enjoying it very much. It's an eGo Tank System A. (Not Joyetech) and so far so good. I have heard many negatives about this system but I really wanted to try it for myself.

After a week or so I will let everyone know how it's going! Thanks again!

Your local stores might be little more expensive but if you get to taste juices before buying, that might save you money in the long run.

and think of what you'll save not buying cigarettes waiting for the stuff to ship!
i bought a starter kit for $50 with a 10ml bottle of juice from a store near me. haven't bought a pack since....although, i did buy a vv ego battery off ebay(works amazingly), 5 tanks, a mess of juices(still trying to find that right one and a good vanilla too) and plenty of coils.
money well spent imo.
