I saw 'Wipeout' on the list, maybe even this song (I know ZZ Top was on for something), and it reminded me of this old viral video. If you haven't seen this, you have to watch it. Pay attention, you will see why this is so much fun. Rick K and the Allnighters doing 'Sharp Dressed Man'.

Summer? Uhhh, maybe it was summer when I first saw it. Or maybe not. It's just cool.

Late summer 2001. Adult Swim was on the air, and I wasn't really interested. Until I saw the end of an episode of Cowboy Bebop. I had loved anime in the past, but nothing could prepare me for this. The way the animation and the music interacted was phenomenal. I had to wait for the series to run it's first showing, since I can be kind of .... about continuity sometimes. This is the opening track for the show. Composed by Yoko Kanno, the woman I would probably want to meet than just about any other due to her sheer talent (and she is kinda cute too!), and performed by The Seatbelts. She has done many anime soundtracks, and the range of the music is incredible. I still listen to the CB soundtrack at least once a month.

Summer of 97. Living in South Carolina with my girlfriend (now wife) and just trying to enjoy it as much as possible, working 60 hours a week on an opposite schedule of hers. I lost touch with a lot of things. Mainstream music was one. I was so busy enjoying the local scene I missed the release of an album by one of my fave bands I had been following since before they hit it big. It had been almost 3 years, wasn't quite expecting it. Heard the first track on the radio, and wasn't sure. Several months later I finally bought it. After about 3 or 4 times through, I got it. Still one of my favorite albums and bands. I do have a thing for female vocals after all....

I used to talk to Louise Post after every show until they hit the big venues. I was so gaga, I probably sounded like an idiot, but she actually listened and we had some really great conversations. I still have regrets from those days....

My birthday, the summer of 2002. My wife sucks at getting me presents. Her friend manages a CD Warehouse. She picks this up for me for her, knowing I am a big Mike Patton fan. This nets me the sexiest CD ever recorded 'Nathaniel Merriweather Presents...Lovage - Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By....' The video actually cuts the song off just past mid-way, but you get the general idea. If I had had this when I was dating....

That is my 5 for the day. Hope everyone is doing well. Time to grab my PV filled with VL and hit the BR.

Accessing my memory card for things that happened yesterday is a challenge for me...now I'm trying to remember songs that meant something to me in the summer months..all mumble mumble years worth??? hahaha I have to upgrade to a more powerful cpu and more memory :) I don't know if this old body can handle that much of an upgrade :)

But I will try...hopefully I won't get the blue screen of death and just keel over :)

I remember a family friend of ours who worked on our farm. He was in high school earning extra money. We had a well at our house. A typical well with the little roof. He would lower his six pack of soda into the water to keep it cold. I thought that was the neatest thing..I had no idea the water was that cold underground. And I also remember him listening to a song "Big Bad John" So...there ya have it..not a summery subject for a song...but the memory is definitely summery.

So thankful for Google, it's reactiving my memory.

My sister and I had two friends who are also sisters. My sister and I would go their house and we would listen to music during summer vacation. One of our most favorite singers was John Denver. We would sing sing sing together! We especially liked Sunshine On My Shoulders.
