So its now time for me to build a mod but trying to do it without having to order anything online. Trying to do it locally.

I was in the store today and saw these.
Lithium Batteries - Lithium Battery Sizes AA & AAA. Energizer.com

I know normal batteries arn't good for mods, but how would these work? They are lithium and do run at 1.5v but im not worried about the mod being at 5, 6 or 7v. Just something home made.

So would these work?

I'd be surprised if Energizer sold rechargeable lithium batteries. They would definitely have been mentioned before.

I'll have to go take a second look but Im sure they were lithium rechargable. Had the price tag to match :)

EDIT: on second though, you're probably right. Doubt they would have been lithium rechargable. Probably had Lithium and Rechargables next to each other and my mod crazy mind blended the 2 together.

Ugh, back to the drawing board for local bought batteries

Well, now i'm desperate. My newest battery seems to be almost dead. Lasts now for about 10 minutes and doesn't appear to be putting out a decent amount of current. Can't even get this newer atty to glow. I'll be picking up a tester tomorrow to see, but im starting to freak out lol. Boy oh boy do batteries go fast. That will teach me to procrastinate about making a mod for an incident like this lol.

I need to figure out how to make a emergency mod asap. Im out of batteries and wouldn't be able to get any for a week or so. Can't even order the lithium batteries to make a mod like everyone else uses.

Suggestions?

USB passthrough with a big "emergency charger" pack, find a Fry's (or whatever the Canadian equivalent is) that carries lithium rechargeables, use non-rechargeable lithium "primary cells" like camera batteries, or hack together a mod fed by 3 NiMH AA's in series.

You really need to use rechargeable batteries. The primary lithium's such as the energizer and alkaline batteries don't do well under heavy loads. The voltage will sag and the current will drop very quickly. I know that doesn't help you right now but hopefully it will in the future. I have not tried any mods yet but was able to connect four Nimh AA batteries to a usb jack and test it out with my passthrough. It worked well but I believe a protected Li-Ion battery would work much better.

Yeah, I do realize that rechargeable lithiums are best and i'll be sure to get some for my hundreds of mods i'll build from here on out :)

Dave Rickey has a good point though. Are you saying to make a passthrough and get a portable power pack? I kind of like that idea. Would help with my situation of not having any batteries. Use the portable power pack as the battery and just make sure it has a usb port in it.
