Aluminum casting

Has anyone tried casting their own mods/attys using aluminum or any other metal? I'm thinking about casting my own mech with aluminum. Maybe try false foaming or make a mold with pop

Disclimer: The only metal I DIY casted (when I was about 10-14 years old) was lead.

I am sure you cannot make precise enough DIY casting which can be usable for attys.
Not sure about mech mod. Do you have lathe? Without it I do not see how you can finish your work. However, if you have lathe, you can make much better mod using factory-made rod (no porosity in material, much cleaner metal, much stronger).

For the mech mod, I don't see why not. It's basically a battery holder with a 510 connector.
You might want to check the 'modding' section of ECF.
