As the thread title suggests, I've been lurking these forums for the past 3 - 4 weeks. :D

My e-cig, a 601 from electronic-cigz, arrived on 11 January with amazing support and swift responses from Sean Hon-Sing. In fact, the email responses to my queries were so fast, it was almost like being on a chatline rather than email. Hats off to ya Sean!

I've been smoking for 45 years with a few abortive attempts at quitting; the most successful attempt amounting to three years. The trouble was, even after three years, I was craving cigarettes every day and eventually started smoking again after a particularly miserable incident.

Well, I haven't had a cigarette since my pack arrived, nor have I wanted one. It isn't like quitting, it's more like changing my brand. I have no cravings and the whole thing is almost a hobby on its own! lol

My wife's 401 arrived yesterday and she hasn't smoked a cigarette since. I know it's early days and all but I really feel it is very unlikely I will succumb to smoking 'analogs' again. Lol, I'm already getting into the lingo.

I've generated a mass of interest at work and two colleagues have asked me to send info to some of their loved ones, as they are concerned about their current health risks.

I have a Protege on order and, once again, the service has been excellent. I'm assuming the Canadian customs will held up the package for a while, as they seem to enjoy doing so with all things American. But, once they've had their fun, I'm looking forward to playing with my shiny new toy. :)

This forum has been a great source of info and I have appreciated the opportunity to read so many experiences and ingenuity in making mods.

Welcome to the board Knapweed. Vaping is very much like making a hobby out of your habit. It is like switching brands, only the brands are tasty and healthier than smoking the demon tobacco we were all addicted to.

I tell people "Smoking was like a dirty habit.....Vaping is more like a Lifestyle"
This is how I began to see it as I transitioned from one to the other.

Hey there Knapweed -- Congrats on coming outta' your lurker's closet! (Geez... 4 to 5 weeks?... wow! )

Anyway... welcome to the vociferous side of the aisle!

Glad to hear that since you've discovered vaping... you haven't experienced much in the way of cravings for an analog like some have. I didn't either. And that was the thing that totally blew my mind after more than 40 yrs of hard tobacco addiction.

I just had to chuckle when you commented "... whole thing is almost a hobby on it's own.."
Yessiree... it certainly can become that for sure!:w00t:
Not necessarily for everyone of course, but there's no question some of us have gotten pretty wrapped-up into it all.:p

Here's to you and your wife for making the decision to draw the line. It's a huge turning point. Before I discovered PVs... I had all but given up any hope (owing to several failures) of ever being able to quit analogs on my own.

Despite being totally smoke-free for months now, it's still very difficult to convey the wonderful fondness one can develop for the world of 'vaping'. I'm sure for many of us... it has to do with a peculiar (probably emotional) feeling of something akin to what might be called "salvation"... [or something like that -- I dunno..]

Anyway... just thought I'd welcome you to the world of the newly-inducted vapor-converts. I can tell you from my own experience that the mysteriously fleeting de-lurking process will now likely pass into faint memories as something almost forgotten after the next few days.:D:lol:

Cheers!!

Welcome knapweed!

There's no need to lurk around here, it's a terribly friendly place. I came here almost two weeks ago and amassed sixty posts before I even got my first PV (today)!

Glad you're doing so well! Just don't assume your cart is empty when you suck on the wrong end like I just did. Hey, it's better than accidentally lighting a filter...

Knapweed....Congratulations on becoming a vaper!! My mom and I started the E-cigs two weeks before Christmas and have had two packs of cigarettes in our house ever since that we haven't touched. Well, actually I lit one about a week ago to see what it would be like now, and Smiles, you said it right, it tasted sooooo dirty. It was awful. I have tried quitting myself and had lost hope. My mother had smoked for about 35 years or so and has quit. It is unfortunate that I had never heard of these before. I am so happy. I am not worried any longer about quitting. I never wanted to anyway. I am simply going to be a lifetime vaper instead of a smoker and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Thanks guys! What a welcome :)

It wasn't so much shyness as the utter shame I would have felt if I'd got on here did my research, got my e-cig, took a puff and hated it! :-x

Along with my Protege, I also have a mini pack of 10 flavours on their way. I've already bought a 250 ml bottle of VG, which has made a big difference to the amount of vapour I'm producing. I even invested in a bottle of vodka to experiment with throat hits (I'm not much of a drinker) and generally having a lot of fun!
