yeah the government, if they tax e-ciggs, would definitely have more money in their pockets as compared to just taxing normal cigarettes. I do understand that they are afraid that younger singaporeans will see this as an aid to get into smoking, especially with the impressionable youths nowadays, but I don't think that warrants the ban in SG.

Even if e-cig no nicotine, proven to prolong life, cure cancer std, ED, reduce stress blah2..govt stance is no..

Who gonna pay for cig taxes man???
i guess to a certain extent, the demand for cigarettes will always be there, especially so with the older generation unwilling to get into electronic cigarettes with the learning curve.

but I feel that even if they tax electronic cigarettes the same amount as the tax on cigarettes, their tax revenue from tobacco products shouldn't dip as cost isn't a major factor with smokers

Our government has the problem with selective hearing. They only hear what they find is music to their ears, anything else will just get muted by their remote control. Will HSA, MOH or HPB respond to this recommendation? Even if they do, it's only wayang reply only.
I've long given up on this government run by Pay And Pay.

IMO, for the gahment to approve e-ciggs they need to find a way to tax on it. - if not who will pay their multi-million dollar salary?
2ndly i think they have reservations on this matter as some idiots may just take up a mod and find new way to abuse substance or something like that..

It will take eons before they decide its legal.. if they ever do that is...

I don't think its about the money, it is that our garmeh is too conservative and backward. It is strange how many countries are moving towards regulation while we are moving in the opposite direction. I thought gahmen like to follow UK in everything, this time their health agency say they don't follow.

while i guess this article served as good pubic education, for the govt to step up their effort to regulate, not likely to happen soon. unless a bigger nation (US or UK) starts to regulate the industry properly, then, our govt likely will follow their "suggestion". In the near future, i really dun see our govt taking this seriously, until someone else they respect create a drastic regulative framework.

It saddens me your government actually wants people to smoke cigarettes rather than vape. Ignorance at its best.

Sadly, our screwed up government is doing the same thing. Nobody can stop us now, not even the shady ignorant lying (kickback) politicians supporting BT or FDA.

Black market here we come....!

The kiasu argument isnt about ecig vs. cigarettes. They are too smart to be entrapped by this comparison. They place the argument between vaping and not vaping at all. In other words why smoke some chem when you can smoke fresh air.

But then..... the haze??

Then they should ban farts also. Flammable.
