Your battery will always be the most important part of your ecig and a very important decision on your part; Even more so when you become an ecig hobbyist and decide to try out an unregulated mechanical mod versus your LAVATUBE, which has built-in safety features.

So as a vaper, one of the most important things that you should do your research on is Ohm’s Law. Ohm’s Law will help you determine the limits of a battery and at what rate it can discharge its stored energy safely. If you stress a battery and discharge its energy over its rated safe limit, there is a great chance that your battery will start to vent or worse it may explode.

Don’t fool yourself; batteries are dangerous, especially if you do not know how to use them properly. A battery stores potential energy and you need to know the proper way to release this energy. Stories have been popping up where catastrophic failures have happened with ecigarette batteries, but this was all due to the user not following the safety recommendations of the manufacturer. So when in doubt always go with the charging equipment your manufacturer gave you and follow their charging guidelines exactly.

Keep these in mind if you are going to venture into the world of unregulated ecig mods. It cannot be stressed enough that you need to do your research before piecing products together.

Here are some pointers to get you started:

  • Research and Understand Ohm’s Law & how to use it
  • Determine the Ohms of your cartomizer and atomizer
  • Determine your device’s amp output
  • Determine your device’s voltage output
  • Figure out your device’s maximum continuous discharge rate and learn why it is important to know this rate
  • Find out what your battery’s rated mAh and how to figure out your battery’s lifespan before you need to charge it again

Here is a handy chart with the Mathematical Formulas for Ohm’s Law

If you don’t want to do the math check out our handy calculator at the link below. This calculator is based on the formulas used in Ohm’s Law. Use this calculator to easily convert your volts and ohms to watts and amps—or any other combination of these values.
