Lately I've been having tinnitus/ringing of the ears. I'm not sure if it's vaping related or if I'm having a bad reaction to something in the vape juice. I've quit vaping for now to see if the problem subsides, but the question I have is this: Is there a difference of ingredients between analog juice and a vape? And when I say analog, I'm assuming it means the little cigarette looking e-cigs they sell at corner stores. (That's an analog right? Lol if I'm wrong sorry!) I know that vapes have three main ingredients like propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin and nicotine, depending on one's preference, but is it the same ingredients for those little cigarette looking things that light up at the tip?? Thank you! Any help is appreciated :):);)

When vapers use the term "analog", they are usually referring to traditional tobacco cigarettes. What you are thinking of as an analog are normally referred to as "cig-a-likes", because their size and shape are so similar to traditional cigarettes.

In regards to e-liquid, whether it is for a cig-a-like, or separate mod and tank, they will normally have the same components....PG, VG, nicotine, and in most cases, flavoring. Hope this helps.

Oh okay! Wow never knew ppl referred analogs to traditional tobacco, but yea I have already seen a doctor. Waiting to see my ENT bc everywhere is booked. Small town struggle. In a way I was hoping maybe I could try the cig-a-likes and see if my tinnitus doesn't react to that as much, but it makes sense that the ingredients are similar. Sorry I know that sounded like such a noob question xD lol currently been on the nic gum.

Have you tried flavorless juice? I read your other post about the tinnitus. I was trying to remember back when I started vaping. I know that I had some ringing but I do not now and can not pinpoint when it stopped. I never associated it with vaping though. I simply assumed it was stress related (could have been wrong). I only use flavorless juice now as the flavors I preferred seemed to have an impact on my allergies.

That's a great response! You know cause I thought about maybe trying that next to try and weed out the cause. My thoughts are that it could an allergic reaction to an added flavoring or the PG. Does the unflavored juice you use have PG in it? That will definitely be my next attempt if I try juice that has no PG in it and end up having ringing in the ears still. Right now I'm just trying to back off the vape for a couple weeks and see if my ears end up healing themselves. I have definately noticed some improvement since quitting the vape. I hope it'll be completely gone in another week. *fingerscrossed*

I vape 30pg/70vg with a bit of distilled water (1 drop per mL). I used just VG for a while but my skin became too oily (I now know that may have well been vendor specific). I was talking with someone who suggested that I try a vendor that used all natural flavoring but I never did as I enjoy flavorless.

Best of luck to you!
Is flavorless completely flavorless with no taste at all? I know virginvapors sells all organic 100% VG if you'd like to try flavoring again.

There are different brands for all of the ingredients. To me, it seems that there is a lot of process-of-elimination. Even between e-juice vendors since their sources could be different.

If you have different e-juice from different vendors, that can be a lot of ingredients to wade though via trial and error. I would try to recall if a certain juice brand/vendor is the culprit.

If you know a DIY juice maker, you could try testing different mixes (PG/VG/Nic). I would eliminate flavors immediately to see if that is it first.

I think there's actually a few threads covering the relationship between PG and tinnitus. And I may just give the zero flavoring a try eventually...until then I've been chewing the nic gum. It takes a lot of willpower choosing gum over smokes, but I've put that behind me. Now I'm just trying to deal with the tinnitus, locate the source possibly. I've had it now for a month and a half....can't give up yet though...hoping to get some answers from my ENT. :(

I don't even know if the Cigalites that they sell in the Gas Stations and so forth even list the ingredients, and I wouldn't think you'd have any idea where the flavors are derived. With the bottled e liquids you can choose the company that your purchasing from with an idea of where the mixture is comprised of and if not then you don't purchase. For most of us knowing what the ingredients are that we are putting into our bodies was/is one of the reasons that we get away from analog(real cigarettes).
Always be a wise consumer. Do not reach for or use a product that you have no idea what it is.;)

its the nic that makes ones ears ring... do some nic gum, nic inhaler, or even ( if you dare) lick a nic patch and listen for the results... best time to do this is first thing in the morning...

I was going to suggest the same thing. Nicotine makes your heart speed up considerably and your blood pressure rise which can lead to ringing in the ears.

Seriously doubt it's the nic in my case. I believe I lowered my nic intake when I swiched from cigs to vape bc I was smoking at the very least a pack a day...started with 3-6mg nic ejuice. Some short time later my ears just had mind boggling ringing that was almost unbearable. I adjusted my juice to VG, and the ringing subsided but did not go away. Did that for a couple weeks. So then I just decided to quit the vape and see what that does. It's been about a week and the tinnitus has subsided quite a bit. Been chewing 4mg nic gum nonstop. In the middle of quitting the vape, I decided to give it another shot. I vaped VG the for a day and noticed my tinnitus slowly spike more and more until both ears were ringing instead of just the usual one. So I quit the vape again and decided I wouldn't touch it until my ears heal (hope they do)...now I'll have random moments of silence here and there, something I haven't had in over a month. I'm not giving up on the vape though...I will most likely try experimenting with different juices again.

I think PG has to actually come in contact with the inner ear to cause problems.

Regarding your tinnitus, this happened to me about 5 years ago when I was still smoking analogs (tobacco). Scared the crap outta me! Researched and worried, got a soothing sounds alarm clock & tried whatever I could......& then one day it just stopped! It was a wonderful thing...... I also experienced vertigo but since I stared vaping none of these problems have come back. Good luck to you & I hope you tinnitus goes away very soon!
