This is One of the Reason the FDA will say they need "Standardized Packaging". So States/Feds can Implement Standardized Taxation.

5 Pack of Pre-Filled Cartos = Retail Price + $2.25 of Tax ?

tax will likely be per ml... there's more money to be made.

What scares me is an inaccurate accounting of ml equivalence since many manufacturers(big tobacco) claim 1 Cartridge = 1 pack... if a cart is 1ml(i believe it is) this is a major problem.

lets use me (and California) as an example:

1 pack of cigarettes/day
$0.87/pack tax in California
&6.09/week

So... let's assume that eliquid is taxed at $0.87/ml, remember the claim... '1 Cartridge = 1 pack'

I vape about 3.5 ml/day

$3.04/day
$21.28/week

1 bottle of five pawns Castle Long Reserve would now cost: $64.10, almost doubling it's already high price.... But it's even worse with less expensive juice:

My local vape shop sells boutique juices 30ml/$22... after this theoretical tax.. that same bottle would be $48.10, meaning 55% of the price is tax.

A voice of reason amid the insanity:

"If there's a thought that someday we might tax these things as we do cigarettes, it would seem odd that we would disincentivize people from moving away from something that's dangerous to something that's less so," said Rep. Cliff Bentz, R-Ontario.

Thank you, Rep. Bentz!

...

That might be True. But that is Assuming that Liquid e-Liquids will continue as they are now.

BTW - California does have a .87 Tax on a Pack of Cigarettes. But the Fed also get a 1 Buck per pack also. And, Of Course there is Sales Tax in California for Cigarettes.

I think Oregon was the first one to think of an additional annual tax on hybrid cars because they don't use enough gas. 50 mpg means that they only collect half the gas taxes. What's up with the "Left Coast".

Keep in mind Oregon has no sales tax... so their annual taxes need to compensate to some degree.

Michigan. Pack of coffin nails..$1.00 Federal tax plus $2.00 state tax equals $3.00 plus six percent sales tax on the tax equals eighteen cents..grand total $3.18 in tax and you still have to pay sales tax on the actual cost of the cigarettes! They also charge sales tax on the total cost of gasoline plus have their own state tax on a gallon of gas. Reading above I was very surprised on how California has such a low tax on cigarettes! Guess I should move to the Peoples Republic of California (G)!!
And when their expected revenue doesn't meet their projected budget requirements they cut police, funding to schools, and road repair!
Bastiches!
