ok. i finally have an e-cig. i just got it last weekend. it happens to be a V4L Vapor King, which is a KR808d-1. i think it's pretty effective at what it's designed to do. i'm very impressed. i think i got into the super mini market late enough that the really bad bugs are long gone. with the PCC it is as convenient as smoking, rather than a tedious geek gadget/chem set. i also have the pass thru so i understand the significance of a slight increase in power.

the reason i got a PV at all was to be able to have a clove when i'm out socializing. i loved them, and was not particularly happy with the ban, but it did get me to quit smoking. vaping, particularly with an option of 0 nic, seemed like the perfect alternative.

i have the V4L premium "cool cart" cartos in 8, 11, 18mg.
i have the V4L Wow cartos in 11, 18, and 24.
i also have a bottle of TV Kretek sweetened, 80/20 0nic.

my first impression on the wow cartos is that they are harsh to the throat, and the flavor is chemically. i'm wondering if they need to be broken in.

my first impression of the cool carts is that they are not as chemically at first. but its throat hit over powers its flavor. it does have a flavor, but it is not like a clove cigarette that i have smoked. it is sort of vanilla candle like. these may need breaking in too. i don't know if they have some sort of primer juice on the atomizers like i've read about new 3-piece atomizers. or if its just newness for being heated, like when you start the heat in your house for the first time that season.

i also took a few of these cartos and taryn spun them dry; then refilled with ~20 drops of the TV.

now this stuff has a lot of flavor. very little if any harshness in the throat, but if i exhale too quickly, it can almost trigger a bit of a hack or gag reflex. because it really feels 'full'. i like it. unfortunately, i think it tastes like christmas popourri, more than a clove cigarette. i realized this to the fullest extent two nights ago, when i walked into a smoking bar (they have those here) and someone WAS smoking a clove. it made the flavor i had been experiencing suddenly seem like i was huffing a Glade for the Holidays air freshener. it was disappointing.

that said, i do enjoy the flavor, being its that time of year, but it's not satisfying my kretek craving. it does have a little tongue-tip bite from the clove, very authentic. the first couple times i had used it, i did not shake it up, and one of my cartos got a very strong anise tilt to it. so it taught me to shake well.

i had considered sending TV an email, asking about what may bring on the 'christmasy' flavor i notice, and if there's a particular ingredient responsible for that, which may be able to be tweaked. maybe it's the sweetener. or, it may be a characteristic of the clove flavor they use, and that's just how it is. sometimes flavors can vary. like cherry, compared to marachino cherries. or banana. banana candy doesn't really taste like a banana.

i have also been refilling these cartos with the TV as i vape them down. that's been providing some interesting flavor and throat hit combos. but the christmasy-ness to it is beginning to get annoying. maybe it will pass. and if the chemically ness of it doesn't go away, and that's the "throat hit" that people keep talking about, then i'm going to stick with blanks and juice.

incidentally, they all produced good vapor, even with the auto battery i primarily use. vapor production i have learned quickly is dependent on technique. i can get a big cloud with any battery and any one of these cartos, the V4L coolcart and the wowcarts, as long as i use the primer-puff to mouth, long easy draw to chest, all in one breath. with the manual batts, a click-pause-draw is sufficient timing to get a big cloud. i can obscure my monitor screen with both pre-filleds and the TV refills.
that said, the TV 80/20 definitely produces the biggest, thickest cloud.

i'll keep at it, vaping these to see if they break in or stay consistent, and start collecting up some other brands of e-juice, to see how their version of clove is.

there's a distinct smell and flavor to it. as soon as i walked in that bar, i knew it. i wanted to go over there and ask for one, as i was vaping. ugh. that's not ok.

if any other clove lovers would like to share your experience here, please chime in. or contact me directly if you'd like to try some of the cartos i have, as i have plenty. i can drop one in an envelope for ya.

for now, i am happy i have something to vape, and give me a little clove tingle. it's a good start.

i was a kretek smoker for years, and of all the 'clove' liquid i've tried, tv kretek was the most spot-on to real indonesian kretek. most comparable to sampoerna, imo. try the tv kretek unsweetened (its more authentic that way), and you'll also get a truer flavor using an atomizer vs a carto.

thanx for that suggestion, e-J. i am enjoying the TV kretek, but i am not appreciating what I can only describe as a "christmasy" flavor, like a holidays air freshener. do you think it's the sweetener? i only went with it because the site's product description recommended it. i'll have to try it w/o it next time.

I know exactly what you mean, I also bought a bottle of sweetened Kretek from TV. I think that the floral notes are coming from the clove flavoring they use. The other thing that bothers me is that others around me can smell the floral smell, and have compared it to the smell of diapers. Had to stop using it to keep the wifey happy.

i havnt had the one you guys are talking about, But i did get a sample of Clove from Nhaer high octane line when i bought some stuff over there. I have always been nervous about tobacco flavors and clove falvors too, clove is naturally really strong, so if someone messes it up, it could be a flavor to choke you, but anyways, nhlaers one is the closest i have personally tried, i thought it was really good, like the djari, might wanna give that a try

I have Kretek from TV as well as Tiki from Halo. Kretek wins this hands down. Tiki would stand some sort of chance if they did not have that Menthol in there. Tiki is more a spice blend than just a clove. Kretek, is clove plain and simple. The aroma of the vape is very strong though, and can be a problem to others.

just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their input on this thread!!! I was a Clove only smoker too and the ban made me switch to vaping. I have been looking for a really good full flavored clove. I have tried clove from Sharp Smoker and Value Vapor (SS was definitely better than VV for more of a true clove flavor, but it did seem to change after a couple of months) I will have to order the TV Kretek :vapor:

I found "Casey's Clove" from puresmoker to be quite clove-like. Only ran in to problems with flavor after having had a few too many, which was more that the beer I was drinking started drowning out the flavor. But as a daily clove flavor, it worked quite well. The clove smell on my upper lip was also quite like that of a djarum black for an all day enjoyment of the scent.
