I remember as a 7 year old, my dad woke me up to watch Armstrong stepping foot on the moon. Cronkite was like a little kid who could not contain himself watching what was unfolding before him

. This was one of the only two times Cronkite ever stepped out of character while reporting the news. The other time was when he reported the official word of JFK's death.
The big problem with news nowadays is that news means nothing. Government uses it as a tool to continue the misinformation fed to the masses to keep on track for their ultimate goal. Great example is Cronkites comments on the Vietnam War which caused such a stir it caused Johnson to not seek re-election as El' Presidente. That was not to ever happen again, government made sure of that. Second is they put "news" like, who won American Idol, over news that should be reported like, lets say, reporting bills that could have a big impact on society in general and the country as a whole. Third is "raitings". Back in Cronkites day, raitings were not even considered, just get the news OUT to the people. Today, it's nothing more than just bullsh*t to get that "scoop" to make top raitings and money.
Jib-Jab once made an excellent parody. It's funny, but true as well
