I have pretty powerful batteries in my Android phone. I was wondering if there are currently any adapters that would allow me to plug in a regular 510 carto to the micro usb port without requiring a regular ecig battery?

If there is not such a thing, maybe it would be nice to work on one. I would love to use just my phone when I am out and about since I would only need to carry a small carto. I can imagine all the neat apps we can make as well for VV although people may think it is strange to be smoking your phone.

I really like the idea of my phone being used for everything (phone, computer, camera, vaper...)

:)

A lot of today's devices will have USB OTG (on the go) and are capable of providing power when they are the "A" device.

I haven't worked with a lot of USB OTG controllers but the ones I have seen won't work as desired. Some can provide 100mA, some 200mA. It is highly likely there are some capable of 500mA as well.
That said, when you turn on that powerful heating element you are drawing quite a bit of current. Lets assume the phone provides only 200mA @ 5V. P = I*V = 0.2A*5V = 1 W. 1W is not enough power. Have a look at http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...e-wanted-know-plus-bit-electronic-theory.html. HDMI would be even worse. The +5V rail maxes out at only 50mA. What would work is if you were drawing current directly from the battery. I see this as the only viable option. I could be wrong..

I was thinking of a Iphone mod tapping power from the headphones jack or the charging port but after research realised that the power output is 10mA from the headphones and to get power from the charging port requires some imba app writing and jailbreak.

Imagine slide to VV and touch to vape.

I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

You should see some of the abominations I have already tried to make work, with limited success, so far... I made a cordless drill PV but the drill part stopped working. A combination electric screwdriver PV where you can pop the bit out and screw in a carto but again the screwdriver part went screwy! I've got some other mad schemes that I will fool around with eventually and they will likely be just as useless. Still, it's fun to make these things. Maybe one day I'll come up with something that works and get filthy rich!

I'll look into it. I know some devices power HDMI without an external source, so maybe some devices do have external power abilities. Also maybe there can be power via the headphones jack on some models as well since that also how some models connect to HDMI.

its not the phone using the power i believe its the usb source u plug into when watching videos from your phone to your tv
