Another anti-ecig story in the news. This one will get traction; child involved.

From the description of how the mother was charging it from the charger between the seats, she may have been using the same sort of inappropriately configured adapter to act a a charger, but of course an adapter would have no way to cut off the power when full so it would just explode eventually, exactly as happened last year in a similar case with an adapter used inappropriately as a charger off the cigarette lighter on the person's front dash.

speculating on either side is pointless. she may have been using it improperly or properly. there's zero information to tell either way.

that said, batteries of all types have been known to explode, just ask Dell and Sony about their laptops from a few years ago.
