Hi everyone,

I've just found this forum and decided I ought to become a member. I've been hearing a little (here-n-there) about e-cigarettes but really don't know much at all about them.

I've finally come to the point of recognizing that I've got to find a way to eventually quit smoking ordinary cigarettes. But like many, I've also found that being able to do that seems surprisingly challenging. :(

My basic interest in the e-cig stuff really is about the prospect of finding an effective alternative to smoking regular cigarettes.

My thanks to the founders of this forum for providing a meeting place where others like myself can share with each other. -- Sheri :)

Hi Beckah54 and Doots,

Thank you so much for the warm welcome!

Gosh I see there are so many people here! I had no idea!

I guess my first question is how to sort through all the information to try to get a better understanding of things. For example, I've read a few things that (vaguely) put the e-cigarettes into different basic groups. And I think I understand that there are at least a few different types of 'liquid'(?) available .. I think.

But it would be helpful to find out where the 'orientation' articles are for newcomers who don't know what's important and what isn't. I'm presuming these exist of course.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to think about the basic categories of e-cig types? -- and how do these interrelate to the different types (or families) of 'liquids' ?

Sorry...I'm probably not really able to ask good questions yet. Guess I'll need to just get a lot more reading done first.

thank you, Sheri

Welcome to the site... I hope you have a great experience here with us! Make sure you do alot of research on different e-cigs, i was here a few months before ordering my first e-cig and now im at 3 different types... At the top of the page is a icon *sponsoring suppliers* there is a whole list of websites to look at different e-cigs, check out youtube alot of great reviews on e-cigs once you find the e-cig for you im sure you'll love it and never look back... I've been analog free since my first e-cig and still loving it!

Welcome TexLady. Like you, I had tried many times to quit. I tried the patch, gum, lozenges, and even prescription medications. Nothing worked until I found out about the e-cig. I'll admit, I'm new; but in the four plus days I've been on the e-cig, I've not had ONE analog. For someone that smoked a pack a day for many years, that says a lot. I haven't even WANTED to light up. Just read some of the posts here and ask as many questions as you need to; everyone is very helpful.

Vaping is very effective. I started out with the intention of quitting out-right but for the first time in years I actually enjoy nicotine again as I don't have to feel like crap to obtain it.

Maybe I will quit in the future but for now I am enjoying this too much. There is nothing wrong with enjoying a safer alternative to cigarettes while you work up to quitting.

Good luck!

Hello,

I'm not sure where to start. Yesterday I joined this forum and introduced myself here because that was recommended for newcomers to ECF. I'm usually quite reserved and was pretty nervous about doing that here but felt it was worth taking the chance. I am so very glad I did.

It is difficult for me to put into words the feelings I have had from that point til now. I guess I can only say it has been a very emotional ride. I know that must sound weird, but it's true. I don't know why exactly, but I think it's because maybe I've finally found something that can at last offer some real hope (and I do so very much hope so)...a way for me to quit smoking.

After a number of attempts and disturbing failures, I suspect it may be that we develop an inner attitude that kicking the habit is just impossible... or because of a subconscious belief that we're just not strong enough to do it and thus we're doomed. Either way, I didn't anticipate the up-welling of emotion that I've experienced after reading so many other people's accounts of how relatively easy it's been for them to quit smoking cigarettes since deciding to give the PV alternative a try. --
I realize that may not be true for all... but it's enough to give me the hope I've been so very desperately searching for -

I wish to thank every one of you who have replied to my first postings here. The kind words of welcome and encouragement from everyone has been nothing short of a lifesaver for me. Even now I can barely keep the tears back as I sit here.

My special thanks to The Wiz! -- your directing me to Mr. DonDaBoomVape's muti-part expose has provided a basis of understanding for me better than I had even hoped. -- It was also from there that I've followed so many other amazingly informative thread-segments (and got quite lost several times LOL!). -- I had several other things I was supposed to do since yesterday..but having become glued to ECF here I haven't been able to do anything else but read constantly (except to grab more coffee and a couple snacks). I think it was around 3:30am last night when I finally crashed (for maybe 3 or 4 hrs!). -- Whew! -- and now I see I've been back at it again since early this morning. I really do need to get some more sleep.

Again thank you all so very much! Your encouragement means so much to me. -- Bless You!

sheri
