Hi all, I've been lurking the forums for a couple months since starting to vape. I just decided to register so i could participate. First off, many thanks to ECF, I wish I found you before dropping $60 on a garbage eGo ripoff with 30 ml of liquid from the tobacco shop where I used to buy my tobacco/tubes to roll my own analogs. Admittedly, it was more effective for me than the Blu kit that I tried back in 2012, but I still feel a bit robbed. I've learned a lot so far, and continue to progress on my vaping journey. Since that ill-informed purchase 3 months ago, I've used around 2 packs of analogs, and only 1 analog in the past month. E-cigarettes have made analogs taste to me like proverbial "hatred and death," and my wallet/health wish I had found them many years ago. :thumb:

Welcome to ECF, and don't beat yourself up on the first purchase, you learned along the way and with luck your post may help someone else. Sadly a lot of places take advantage of new and uninformed people by selling over priced substandard equipment. Ego's can be a good starting point, however finding a fair deal on quality egos is a little harder.

Thanks! And don't worry, I'll keep reading. I'm kind of OCD-ish about research before I spend $$$, that first purchase was just an impulsive get-me-off-analogs-no-matter-the-cost deal. I like the tinkering aspect, so the best stuff I've found here so far is the technical/safety info about batteries/coils/DIY liquids. It blows my mind that this community is so big and has been around so long and I'm just now discovering it!

Hi Llanso,
Welcome to ECF Posting :)
I'm new also and like you, purchased an overpriced starter eGo kit with no rebuild capabilities. But.. I quit analogs .. Yay.
Search out a vapor lounge in your area ... go and try some flavors. They probably are high priced in the hardware arena .. but there may be a chance to try a tank or see other options. Keep learning.. don't go back to the analogs.. what's the worst that can happen? .. You'll quit both analog and vaping.. woot.
Blessings and Joy,
Bliss

Hi! I'm new here too, and I've been reading so much I'm on information overload. I started off with the same kind of "deal" you got, from the local smoke shop, just like you. I soon discovered they didn't know much about e-cigs and they didn't stock even basic items I wanted, and everything was shoved under the counter. After a couple of weeks, when I would walk in, the owner would see me and immediately pull out a dusty box of e-cig stuff so I could poke around in it. :glare:
Then I discovered online vendors, and wow! It felt like coming in out of the rain. I think it's a process we all go through. I don't know anybody who vapes, and it's been a lonely journey in many ways. I quit smoking and started vaping exclusively 5 months ago. Looking back at some of the hurdles I had, it's amazing I didn't give up and go back to cigarettes. But I didn't give up, and I won't. Good luck on your journey!

Hello Llanso, I too bought an eGo starter kit. I'm not sure what you got in your kit but mine had 2 batts., 2 clearomizers, 5 replacement heads, and a batt. charger in a case and a bottle of juice. There is nothing wrong with the batts. or charger. They work fine. The clearomizers aren't the best but they are OK. Since buying the kit, I have not had a stinkie and I am glad I bought the kit.

There is better equipment around but it's not necessary for switching from stinkies to vaping. If you want to vape as a hobby then you will want to do some research and decide where you want to go. There is a lot of variety in vaping equipment. Some of it requires special knowledge and techniques to maintain so do your homework.

Slimloco, 1 batt (short, 900mah maybe, sketchy documentation), 1 clearo, usb dongle (no AC adapter), and 30ml of 1.8% DuraSmoke juice. I'd have felt a lot better about it if I got your kit. The other day I sent a smoker buddy home with one of my ego batts, a charger, and a Kanger T3S full of SandS Mods Black and Black. I told him keep it free for as long as he likes and where he can get juice locally for $10/30 ml. I've accumulated a few tanks that I can't use anymore. My Vamo3, RDAs, and carto tank have ruined clearos for me. If it works for him I'll probly toss him my Protank II, which I gave a chance on my Vamo watching TV last night and it doesn't do it for me anymore. Like Mia, I've been forging this path alone, so if I can help others avoid the "right of passage," I will! Statistically, the vast majority of smokers are not wealthy, so quality entry-level gear seems cost-prohibitive to those who need it most!
