Hi all,
Been on the outside looking in for quite some time. Looking forward to being an actual part of the community.., I have a lot to learn and this looks like the place to do it. My covert office rig is an istick 20 watt topped with K1's. For lounging about while outside the scrutiny of the establishment, I use an ipv Mini 30 watt with a Subtank Nano. I’m now in search of a simple, inexpensive dripper for testing juices I cook up – prebuilt coil heads are way too expense to trash on a bad mix. I know rewicking the subtank heads is an option, but it just seems more reasonable to have an rda around for that purpose, not to mention, I want to learn how to use one. ;) Thanks for having me aboard. -srvii

Welcome to ECF. Im probably going to get alot of backlash but for starters I snagged up a tugboat and a nimbus for around $10 each and a Plume Veil for $15. Although im new to dripping as well I would call the nimbus a starter RDA, the tugboat a mid range RDA, and the PV a pro RDA. I have the iStick20watt and it is ok on the nimbus and tugboat running 1.2 ohms dual coil 30g kanthal but the plume veil begs for at least 26g wire and more power than my Istick can give. Just my opinion.

Hi tj.., and thanks. I've been eyeballing an EHPro Tobh v2.5 clone from (am I allowed to mention vendors here?), well, because it looks cool more than anything else. Not sure if that might be a bit over my head as a starter.., not even sure how to tell. I'll check out the nimbus. Ideally, I'd like to be running at about .5 to .8 ohms. My ipv mini tops out at 30 watts.

It wasn't the wattage that killed me it was the specs on the iStick. It won't go below 1ohm on my rig. that is a big factor to consider also. Supposedly the more surface area the better the flavor of vape but with my 30g wire the coil was gonna be like 18 wraps on each wire and im not trying to vape with a nano slinkee. That Tobh looks legit though.

Hi SRVii and Welcome to the forums. There are many RDAs and each come with their own uniqueness to them. I would recommend one with a good airflow as juices can have a tendency of changing even with a small change in the amount of airflow. I would recommend the Mutation X v3 as it has setup for single or dual coil set up, deep juice wells for when you hit a great flavor and want to vape a little more than just a few drops ;) They are authentic and at a reasonable price. About $30 around my neck of the woods and I am sure around other places as well. Enjoy your time here. :vapor:

Hi SRVii and welcome to the ECF! Thanks for your story. Yeah I have similar experience. I started on a ego-t then got the Istick30 with a Nano. But then wanted a RDA to try all the 40+ juices I accumulated! So I did just that :) An RDA is a great way to sample but in my experience juice taste different and hits different in my RDA than it does a tank so it really hasn't suited the purpose of trying out a flavor to see what I want in my tank BUT it does work to sit back and try a juice for a few pulls and try another, then try another, rinse and repeat.

Haha... good point. That's exactly what I'm hoping to get out of this forum. Thanks, tj.

Hi Ablonz, thanks for the welcome and the recommendation. I was actually looking at a v2 last week.., a vendor was trying to unload previous stock I guess. Sounds like I should take another look.

Hi philoshop, and thanks! Magma.., I'll check it out.

Steve Ray Vaughan - the man, the myth, the legend... You have good taste in music. ;)

I was stuck in traffic in the parking lot leaving his last show the night that he died. Drove all the way back to Buffalo before I heard the news because the radio in my truck didn't work. It was very sad.

Hi Zazoie, so I'm not so crazy? Very good advise, thank you very much!! I never considered the differences between devices, but now that you mention it, it makes perfect sense. ..and tj's comment regarding the amount of coil surface playing into it ties in perfectly.

I would get the v3 as they have changed the screws on the deck to use standard phillips head screws instead of the odd triangle shaped that you need to have the tool to get out. Granted it does come with a triangle type allen wrench but if you lose it or strip it, I would say you are SOL. I currently use the v3 and enjoy it a lot along with the Mutation X Mod :D

Oh, man.., that's an incredible story. Sad indeed... ..and even sadder is to think about all that will never have the opportunity to see him perform and experience his amazing guitar work first hand. He was called home way too soon, philshop.

Ah, yeah.., I see what you're saying. Nice mod by the way. One day, I'll venture into the world of mechanical mods. Today, I just feel safer with a regulated mod (afraid I'll blow my face off chasing the ultimate cloud :p). Thanks, Ablonz.
