Hello All,

So I have been officially quit for two weeks now. I have tried multiple times to do this and had been only moderately successful. The sick thing is about 8 years ago or so I suffered a collapsed lung from what is called spontaneous pneumothorax. The first event was a 100% collapse, mainly because I was stubborn about going to the hospital and I waited too long. I can honestly say it was the most physical pain I have ever felt. After ten days I was released only to have it occur again thirty days later. Knowing exactly what it was I went straight to the hospital. Corrective surgery and all that, so all is well now with the lung and it can't happen again. But...

EVEN AFTER THAT I ended up falling back into smoking again. I have tried "cold turkey", gum and the patch more than once and was never able to kick the habit for long. I gave Chantix a shot but it just didn't agree with my "wiring". But now having turned to vaping I really feel like I have found the cure.

It's amazing, since I started I have only really craved a cigarette once on the second day but that has been it. I still have the pack, there are five left in it. I keep it in my nightstand, there is a certain sense of accomplishment in knowing they are there but I have not touched them, nor have I wanted to.

I'm sure all of you have gone through this "euphoria stage" when you recognize an answer to the addiction to cigarettes has been found. I am just SO happy for myself, for all of us really. I am not sure a non-smoker could ever really get it, what this triumph really means to us. Already physically I am feeling better after two weeks, I am certain that will continue as my body continues to detoxify.

Being new to vaping I am sure I'll have a lot of questions along the way, I'm sure I will find many of the answers buried here in this forum. What I have found so far is that I enjoy it VERY much, I could see myself really getting into it. After lurking here for the day am just fascinated and somewhat overwhelmed by all the options. I decided on going with the V2's to start two weeks ago and they have taken me this far, but after poking around I may upgrade to something else now.

Anyway, sorry this was a little long. Very happy to be here and to be SMOKE FREE!:)

Arch Duke, congratulations and thanks for sharing your story. I too recently quit after my son gave me a 510 system about 6 weeks ago. I tapered off the cigarettes until I was down to about 2 a day and now have been smoke free for 2 days. ECF has been a great place to learn about and share stories amongst those of us who have a common goal to go smoke free.

I always though smokers were a good sociable bunch, especially when standing outside in 20 below zero (°C) cold to have a ..... That social nature has found its way to this forum, fortunately without the need to go outside and freeze! Welcome to ECF.

I quit smoking analog cigarettes about a year and a half ago and have been using the e-cig ever since. A little under 2 months ago, I suffered a spontaneous pneumothorax and was wondering if there has been any research as to whether or not the e-cig could be the cause. Does anyone know anything about this? I understand that I am still using my lungs to breath the water vapor in, and that it was 'spontaneous' so could therefore have been caused by nothing important, but was just curious.
