Heya folks. :)

I've wanted to get an ecig for a while now. I didn't do much research, which is odd for me. But, I finally bought an RN4072 Penstyle from mypvshop on the recommendation of a couple friends. This was about 4 months ago.

I understand that PVs are not for the purposes of quitting cigarettes, but a couple of my friends have used them to do so, and I wanted to see whether they'd help me at least cut down. I used to smoke between 15 - 20 cigarettes a day. After I received my 4072, I haven't smoked a single analog cigarette. Not even one drag.

You can definitely say that I like vaping a lot.

I am usually the type of person that does a lot of tinkering and modding in all of my hobbies. I admit that the reason I have resisted to join this forum, or even lurk much, is that I know once I start getting more into vaping, I'll spend a lot more time and money on it.

But, alas, here I am. :p

Some recent thoughts:

At first, I figured that an auto battery would be much better, so I didn't even consider a button-activated PV. I haven't had any trouble with the Penstyle at all, but I can now see myself using a button-activated model.

It wasn't long before I noticed a reduction in the amount of vapor I was getting. I figured out that if I blew the atty out from the threaded side into a paper towel, it helped with vapor production for a bit.

More recently, it has seemed that I cannot get much vapor at all out of either of my attys. So, I tried cleaning them as mypvshop suggests. I soaked the attys in Coke overnight and rinsed them with near-boiling water in the morning. Now, they both draw smoother, and produce vapor as they did when I first received them! I'll definitely take the time to clean them more often.

The only liquids I have tried have been those from mypvshop, but they seem fine to me. I have tried Liberty's Clove, MyKamel, Custom, Mint, DK-TAB, and Cream. I also tried MyPV's Doublemint. So far, the only liquid I dislike is the Liberty DK-TAB. I can't say which appears to create more vapor as I tend to mix them in my carts quite a bit.

One of my friends told me to buy a pack of cotton exfoliating pads to re-stuff my carts. This has been the only real mod I've tried. My experience says that this material doesn't absorb liquid as well as the stock stuffing material. I thought, at first, that I saw improved vapor production, but I think this may have been a placebo effect. In addition, this stuffing material definitely adds an unpleasant taste to the vapor. I have since resumed using the stock material. I assume that the optimum material would be one that wicks liquid as freely as possible while being able to retain the bulk of the liquid in the cart. The first material that springs to my mind is that which is found inside a Zippo lighter. Has anyone tried this?

My next step is finding a PV which will provide considerably more vapor and a more robust throat-hit. I'd also like to find something with better battery life. I've done a very small bit of research tonight, and I found the PureSmoker Prodigy v3. This thing looks like a beast I could really enjoy!

Next steps: learning about differences in batteries and voltages, carts vs. dropping, different liquids, and, of course, modding! :p

That's all for now. No real questions yet. I'll lurk some before I ask everything that's been asked a thousand times.

Thanks!

Hi, welcom, and happy holidays. Awesome vaping on a PV isn't it? Try Marineland Type U for cart filler. Works great. Wash with dish soap and rinse. Let dry and cut to fit. It can be found in most petshops. I like it better than the white filler.

www.libery-flights.com is having a sale on their eGo kits. I have several and love them. Standard 510 set up with a big battery. Very nice and sleek looking.

Thank you for all the welcomes!

@ hairball: They have 'em for $65, whereas it looks like PS has them on sale for $50. Am I missing something?

One question so far: Where can I go to learn the most about GG PVs in the least amount of time?

EDIT: Another observation. Every once-in-a-while, I find it impossible to sleep after having vaped right before bed. and, I mean I lie awake for a couple hours. It's very frustrating. I assume it is due to the stimulant properties of nicotine. I have found that if I cut myself off from the PV about an hour and a half before bed, I have no trouble at all getting to sleep. But, sometimes, it's really hard not to vape late at night.

Hi again
the liberty flights sale is on the

510/RIVA lite bundle Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

& 901/RIVA lite bundle Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 901

If the price is more than $29.99 go back up to the top of the page & click on the US Flag ..

ok the GG I am not an expert on this model but have read some stuff @ The Golden Greek

Sleeping ?? me too & I'm almost @ 90 days ....some say to drop down to lower nic juice later in the day (afternoon early evening) & it makes it easier to sleep ...this is also supposed to get better w/time. Insomnia is a withdrawal symptom from cigs ...
Let's hope !! At least ECF is 24/7 so we have something to do @ 3am

http://health.howstuffworks.com/wellness/drugs-alcohol/nicotine2.htm this was an interesting page
says "Nicotine doesn't stick around your body for too long. It has a half-life of about 60 minutes, meaning that six hours after a cigarette, only about 0.031 mg of the 1 mg of nicotine you inhaled remains in your body."

@ kelleymcm: The price I see for those kits is $37.49, even after having clicked on the US flag.

But, this brings up another couple questions.

1. What is the difference between the Joye eGo, the Riva 510, and the Riva 901? They look identical.

2. From what I can gather, it seems that there are a bunch of PVs with 510 in their names, and these all utilize the same atomizer. Is this true? So, are the battery housings considered commercial battery mods, then?

I really should have registered here sooner.

Joye manufactures the eGo and it uses a 510 connection. Not sure who makes the Riva, but the Riva 510 uses a 510 connection, the Riva 901 uses a 901 connection. 901 is a different model atty. Different manufactures make 510 products that should work with any other 510 products. Some are tagged mega or eGo and may not work with other products. This is usually stated in the description. You can buy adapters that will let you use different model atties/cartos and batteries together.

are you going to Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 901

and clicking the BIG left hand us flag that has CLICK HERE FOR 20% DISCOUNT super emposed on it ?

510,901,808 these are the model #'s that coincide with the ACTUAL THREADING of the devices .
simplest way to put it ...I think? make sense ? that is why they make adapters that change the threading ...

so you can have an 501 batt ..& use an adapter ..so you can use a kr808 cartomizer on it if you choose to .
I know this is very confusing . I just started with one set of things that were compatible, seemed easiest

ie: I started with the 901 kr808 stuff cuz the threading matched ....
so my first order was
2 901 batts , manual's...
10 901 attys (GREAT SALE)...
kr808 carto's also great sale....
808 batt & an XL 808 batt both auto's...
Juice
that way I got to try autos & manuals , attys & carts w'juice and cartomizers premixed & refilled, tiny batteries & xl batteries

I got all my original stuff from Joye eGo | Joye 510 | Electronic Cigarette supplies | Batteries, atomizers, cartomizers, e-Liquid and more! VaporKings he has a nice clearance page & great selection of stuff & is in OKLAHOMA so I get stuff very fast from them

the RIVA /EGO thing is that they are just BIGGER Batteries with the specific threading
and the size of the batt is in the 650 mAh part of the device name , ie: egos are 650 rivas are 750
& you can order all the way up to 1300 mAh batteries , somewhere out there

hopefully some of this makes sense ...I gotta go to lunch ... or so I'm told , I'll check back to see if you have more ??'s

Protip: The Liberty Flights 20% off image in the upper-left hand corner of their site gets flagged and hidden by adblock if you use it (at least if you use it with easylist). I turned adblock off, and it popped right up after a page reload.

@kelleymcm: Thanks a ton, man. You affirmed my suspicions and clarified tons. I get it now.

I'm actually going to snatch a couple of these Riva 510 kits, one for me, and one for a friend who's girlfriend is begging him to try switching to vaping.

Thanks again!
