Hey All,

I'm new here, been lurking on the forums for awhile so I decided to get started posting! Been vaping for about 6months, and the last few months I have been completely smoke free. It did take me awhile to make the complete switch, but now it feels like it has been ages since I've had an analog.

I got started with V2, I was pretty happy with them, but I started looking for cheaper alternatives. So i have recently purchased a new 808 kit (2 batts, charger, and some cartos) for about the same cost as one V2 (and I have been sooo happy with the new batts). I ended up putting the V2s on the new charger and breaking them (doh!), my understanding now is that the new charger and batts must be Gen2 and the V2's are Gen1. (I think)

I ended up making a manual USB powered ecig from one of my dead V2 batteries (I'm a tinkerer). and I've been happy with that as well.

I recently purchased 2 Auto XL batteries and I am very unhappy with them, one I had to send back a few days later since it had no power coming, and the other produces so little vapor and I have to pull the dam center peg out after every time I switch my cart (not that I use it much). I dont know much about Gen2 batteries, but I learned from making my own USB powered cig that the center post on the bats has NO USE moving at all, as far as I'm concerned it should be completely fixed and level with the top of the threads, i made my USB cig so it does not move and I have zero problems with it damaging that carts or causing any problems.

I have been refilling for quite awhile as well. Recently I have been experimenting. I found that my refills didnt last as long as prefilled carts, so I have been adding unflavored VG (and flavor) and trying to get my mix closer to 75 VG, 25 PG. So far its been working out better (but not extremely better). I don't mind experimenting, but I'm not 100% sure its my thing.

Well this ended up being much longer than I anticipated!

I've learned a lot here so far and I'm looking forward to more.

Thanks,
-TO

the center post floating is a good thing. The posts vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. It's fine though to have one fixed judging from your success because you can always adjust the atty post. Otherwise if they were both fixed they would break instead of moving to accommodate each other or keep you from screwing down enough to make a tight connection.

Welcome to ECF! Very good first post!

Welcome Tyler, Congrats on your analog free achievement. I also started with the 808's and found the same problems that you are describing. I then went to the ego and loved them. Maybe if your in the market for a new set up. The 510 kits would definitely prove a better model. (IMO).
Keep up the vape!

I have considered switching things up, I just feel like I have so much invested in the 808. I've got 5 chargers (3 gen2 and 2 gen1), multiple batteries, etc. Any chance I can get adaptors to charge 510s on the 808 chargers?

Not entirely sure if that is possible. I am sure that you can get an adapter 808 to 510 and 510 to 808.
They are both 3.7 volts so it very well may be possible. Maybe someone with some more experience with those two combinations could chime in.

at your own risk of cource. As long as the charger wasn't meant to charger a higher mah battery it works in theory. One of the exceptions is egos and some other high mah batteries which are voltage regulated and give strong warnings against swapping chargers. the industry is starting to move slightly beyond your basic flashlight technology so be careful. A $5 investment in another charger may look better in hindsight.

I'm a huge fan of 808 stuff. I do have 510 stuff as well. Batteries and threads are swapable once you start looking at things like voltage and ohms and the end result of wattage. What are you looking for? More battery life? Warmer and stronger vapor? More taste of the juice?

SteelJan has a nice video she did on the HeLix she covers using a non protected battery and having a short in her YouTube video. I find it fascinating that many people have no idea they could blow their heads off. Basically it just takes a short, your only as safe as your mods protective security mechanisms if you do not understand?

18500, 18650, 26650 are basically equivalent to pipe bombs. Watch her video it's funny because you'll learn this and think. Might make you try to learn and not listen to critics on this forum. But dead charge, overcharge etc... Are harder to understand then < 2.5 V
