Hello all,

So as with many others I have tried to quit smoking numerous times and it has always failed. I have my hopes set on PV's and from reading the forum I think my hopes are well placed. For me, and I could be wrong (or in denial), it doesn't seem so much that I am addicted to tobacco as much as I am addicted to the act of smoking. I can go for many hours without a cigarette and it doesn't seem to bother me, but when I think about not going outside to have one I get anxious about what I will do instead. Even if it is the nicotine I am wanting at least with a PV I won't have all the other junk that goes along with cigarettes.

Anyway, I have ordered a 510 kit from vaporpro and eagerly await it's arrival. Since I smoke menthol's I ordered it with the menthol liquid but after reading on here it sounds like I may not like it. Oh well, I will wait and see. I do have a couple of questions that I haven't gotten a clear understanding from reading the forum. On a manual 510, how long can I expect the batteries to last between charges? How long does the eGo last between charges (will probably be my next purchase and should have been my first)? Does the vapor give the feeling in the throat and lungs that tobacco does, i.e. does it feel as "heavy"? Do PV's give the same satisfaction after a meal as a cigarette? I have watched a few demo video's and it seems that everyone coughs after a hit, why is that?

Thats about it for now, I will post more when my package arrives. I am really looking forward to being free from cigarettes and not having the constant cough, the smell, and the ashes everywhere.

Regarding the 510.

For a heavy ex smoking vaper... you will probably need four batteries to get through the day. I have two batteries plus a usb pass through. That does it for me. But I sit in front of a computer for 15 hours a day.... so the batts are for when I go out.

Since the EGO is essentially a 510 with a big battery. You may graduate to that in the future. I may even go that route.

But for what you need as a beginner- that setup is fine. And can act as a backup in the future if you change setups.

You'll be fine.

Welcome ! Good Luck on your vaping journey.

I can only answer you from my own personal experience, I am sure others will give their own opinions as well.
I also smoke Menthol (or did) I never say I quit, it is my own mind trick LOL. I have tried a few, the best one that I have found is Tasty Vapor Tobacco Menthol. I am sure there are many people who have tried more Menthols then I have and taste is very subjective.
As far as my 510 kit that I have, it is not a name brand one and the batteries usually last me about 1-2 hours . I am a chain vaper.
My eGo lasts me about 8 hours on a not so heavy vaping day and maybe 6 on a chain vape day.
I feel the throat hit but not a lung hit. I thought I would miss this and did at first but used a higher nic and it was not missed after that.
My last cigs, the morning one and after dinner, the hardest ones to get past. I used higher nic for those two times until I felt I could try lowering it. I also now only use the high nic for those extra bad I need a cig moments. Sometimes those are the morning and dinner. Generally I am lowering my nic a little here and there and don't miss the lung feeling you speak of.
I have a few times coughed after a drag, like you mentioned in videos you have watched. Like when I first started and was learning how to vape. It is not the same as taking a drag off the cig. You do it slowly , not quick like you would a cig. I have also had a coughing fit when I tried a high nic juice for the first time , or when I try a new flavor I am not use to. I have also coughed a fit when I tried 6v vaping for the first time.
I hope this helps a little bit. There are many helpful people here. Just ask whatever you need to know and someone will likely have the answer. It is good to also read as much as you can, most of the answers are asked and answered in one way or another.

The 510 manual, for me, a 1 1/2 pack a day MBoro red smoker for 30 years, lasted ~1/2 hour to an hour. You'll hit it harder at first because it's a new experience and try to determine if it is for you. Then your body's needs will kick in to tell you if you need to up the nic level or back off it. It will take time to adjust to find your groove. I needed 36mg for the morning and after meals, and 24mg for the everyday function times. Now I'm at 12mg and 18mg levels and longer periods between the fixes. Initially, depending on the juice type, flavor and nic level, the after meal vape "may" be a minor let down until you get used to it.

from one noob to another welcome! =D

depending on how much and long you smoke really depends on how long your batts last and with time the lifespan will continue to decrease. i've been vaping quite heavily since i've gotten my kit (6 days now), same kit and my batts last me about 3-6 hours (but that's not on a constant basis, maybe about every hour or so I'll vape.

as far as throat it is concerned i think that how you smoke has alot to do with it. when i inhale using the mouth method, i don't get a whole lot of throat hit. when i direct lung inhale i get pretty good throat hits and that's the only time i'll cough. i believe the nicotine dosage also plays a big role in how strong of a throat hit you get as well. i personally haven't noticed a difference in TH with different nicotine levels, but many say there is a notable difference, PLUS i've only really tried nic levels of 18 and 26 but really didn't notice a diff. in TH between the two.

if all you crave is the nicotine and/or the act of smoking after eating then i think the pv will satiate your craving. if you crave the actual cigarette it's possible you're also addicted to the additional alkaloids or psychoactives that are found in analogs.

i can't comment on the ego cause i don't have one and have never tried one. these might not all be correct but only things i've noticed based on my personal experience within the past 6 days. =P i hope this helps.

Thanks for all the kind words and advice everyone.

So, my 510 arrived today and my first observation......waiting 8 hours to charge the battery is a bunch of crap! Seriously, I am all excited to get this new gadget and then I have to wait 8 hours to use it, then I only get to use it for 20 minutes before I have to charge for another hour? Hogwash! I couldn't wait and used one battery after the light turned green, I will let the other battery go for 8 hours.

So, my first impression......PRETTY DARN COOL!!! I could seriously see this taking the place of analogs very quickly. I bought it with the high nicotine carts and I can tell they are to strong, they make me dizzy. I have the medium level juice so that should be better. I will give a shout out to the VaporPro, the shipping took only 3 days from FL to ID and I thought that was pretty good. Everything was as described.

Anyway, I do have a couple questions. The atomizers came with a protective cap which looks like an empty cart. Can I use these to try dripping? From what I have been able to gather, dripping is basically putting a couple drops on the atomizer bridge and using a cart with no filer (I know they have drip tips which I assume makes reloading easier), is this correct? Second, one of the atomizers came with some kind of residue all over it, I assume this is the primer? Third, I assume when I don't get much vapor from a well charged battery it is time to reload the cart, is this correct?

I will probably be buying the ego kit next and give this one to my wife if she likes it, but she may think the liquid and all is to much trouble but I will try to convince her it is better.

Yes dripping method is putting your e-liquid straight into the atty, the residue is a primer to keep your atty from drying out... and with the 510 and most other atty's a wet atty is a good atty when it comes to topping off.. if you do "flood" your atomizer dont worry its a quick fix, but you will taste the difference when you need to refill you cart, to me, idk it tastes... dry i dont really know how to explain it.. im glad you like your e-cig, and as far as the Ego goes.. i had an ego, wasnt too crazy about it, because its so bulky and i'd rather have my PV smaller lol, but that is personal preferences though... the battery for sure does last a lot longer on the ego, and usually with me my 510 battery lasts me right around 2 hours.. and it only takes me 1 hour to charge one up.. also, a PCC (personal carrying case) is a must for the 510 batteries in my opinion, they keey your batteries charged up, if you are at your laptop alot, (wouldnt use for a desktop unless you can find one with a longer cord) a usb passthrough is really nice to have, Cheers!:toast:

Yup, I was the same way. Even with a high-dose patch on, within a day I was either ripping it off and lighting up, or not even waiting to take it off before I lit my cig.

I got my e-cig today (a Kr808D-1), and I haven't touched a cigarette since. It's been over 12 hours. And I don't even want one.

I vape away after meals, while a write, etc. The one I'm worried about is going to bed... but honestly, I don't think it will be a problem.

With a 510, you can expect 2-3 hours of battery life at best with regular vaping. A PCC is a good idea. On an eGo, I hear 6-8 hours.

I can't comment on the feel of a 510. But I definitely get that throat hit and smoking feeling with my Kr8.

I don't know why everyone coughs. My dad does - a 45+ year smoker. But I don't, smoking for under 5 years. In fact, I'm coughing less than I did with cigs.

Don't be scared! It's easier than you think. :)

I wondered the same thing about the initial battery charging time. I can't remember now if I charged the first battery for four hours or just grabbed it after the light turned green - but the second battery I charged overnight. Now 7 weeks later, I can't tell the difference at all - they both work the same as far as I can tell.

Electronics do often vary in performance from one unit to the next, but I think I got two great batteries in my kit. I've recharged them from partial charge (wanting to top off their electrons before going out, etc.) and from totally exhausted. They're still almost like new, it seems. I was careful to buy a genuine Joye kit the first time (paid more than I needed to, hadn't read enough ECF yet to find cheapest vendor or any coupon codes!) so I don't know about any other hardware, just the Joye dual 510 kit and I am very pleased with it. Polished off my last few analogs a few days after my first vape and haven't looked back.

I think people cough because they 'smoke' it instead of vaping it.
Too hard a draw makes ME cough (though that's not saying much, Ive found I prefer a soft TH now lol), but a long, slower draw help with that.
Sometimes I do forget myself and 'smoke' my PV which usually result in a cough or 3 and getting thorugh juice far too fast (I love my flavors sometimes I cant help it lol) with my PV so hot I cant put it down on anything like skin lol.
Hot 510s are ok btw - they arent about to blow up, the 510 likes the heat - but putting it down a for a couple of seconds cools it fast.
I love my 510, in fact I just treated it to an eGo battery so I can take it out for longer periods :)

Thanks everyone for the kind words. So, it has been almost a week now. I have reduced my analog consumption by about half (down to less than half a pack a day), and I am loving the vapor. The only thing that is giving me any trouble are the batteries. One of my batteries will last about 15 minutes (half my commute) and the other one lasts me about 1 to 1.5 hours. I have written the place where I purchased it in hopes of getting an exchange for the 15 minute one, but is the 1 hour one faulty as well? BTW, the 15 minute one only takes about an hour to recharge and the 1 hour one takes about 2.

Now, given this battery problem and knowing myself that battery life would be a problem for me, I ordered the ego-maniac kit from goodprophets.com. I hope it to be here by Friday. I also ordered a LR atomizer, some cartomizers, and several different juices. I am really getting into this and hope that it will eliminate analogs within a month or so.

My wife tried the 510 and she coughs every time. I have tried to give her advice on how to inhale but it was no use. I think I might have a few more attempts to get her to like it before she decides she hates it. Does anyone have any advice on how to make it a better experience for her? She doesn't just give a little cough, it is almost a full on coughing fit.
