I decided to put some miles on the bike yesterday. No stopping for pics (I am actually going back up next week for a couple days so will take some side trips, get pics and such). 650 km one day and my .... is sore haha. Started in Surrey, to Horseshoe Bay, the upper levels to Pemberton, over Mt Currie to Lilloet, down the #12, took the back way down the 7 to bypass Hope and the SLAB (Hwy #1 is boring), cut across Mission to Abbotsford then home.

It was cold near Whistler yesterday. I had to stop in Pemberton to put my jacket liner in. There's still snow along the Mt Currie run and ice waterfalls aplenty running down the mountain ito the river. It's breath taking. I forgot my camera battery in the charger tbh.

Now I want a gopro camera to mount on my handlebars. That Mt Currie run is some of the twistiest hwy I have ridden in a long time. even scared me a few times going to fast as some corners aren't marked to slow down that should be. If there is a heaven, I imagine it to be much like those areas

oh ya, when I was coming down #12 I saw mountain sheep. seen them before but not like this. I was rounding an avalanche area where there is only 1 lane for both directions of traffic. I was going 20km/h and 15 feet away about a dozen sheep on the road. I basically stopped. one jumped up the bank... this scares me because that's how an an avalanche can start, but the rest just looked at me. I even talked to them about wishing I had my camera... if they'd decided to turn and bash me I'd have been down the bank a long long ways too.

people think vancouver and that stupid riot by a few ingrates. BC is much different. as I was riding along up north, people would turn and wave, fellow riders would change to single file to allow me by as I wanted to go faster than most (ya I like pushing it sometimes, and I passed a few sport bikes up there hehe). when I stopped for a burger on the way home, it was late and they didn't have coffee. I didn't want them to make a pot especially for me, so the server brought me over an iced mug of ice water, without asking... that's the kind of stuff BC people are about, not the crap on the news that gets sensationalized

once I get a go pro camera mounted to my handlebars, I can show some really sweet video. I'll see if I can at least borrow one for next week.

DH3 That is a great description and there's even some video. I am going to hit the side trip at the bottom of the page next week
Video/Map

there are many of those single lane bridges made from old planks. before that video is where all the switchbacks and elevation changes are. dam I allready want to go back up. just washed all the bugs off my bike. windshields are a huge plus...

You know, I find the northern cities in Ontario like this. As well, North Western Ontario in places like Markdale, Owen Sound, Wiarton, Meaford etc. Great places to go and see, people are so nice and welcoming. The news you see on TV about Vancouver, I always say "That's because that is the big city. Drama will always happen in an urban metropolis" Go up north and far outside the city and see what residents there think about the loss.... some will probably even say "What Loss? We made it to game 7 of the Cup finals... that's an achievement in itself."

Big cities will always suffer events like this because of the lifestyle residents in this city live: fast, gotta do it now, lifestyles with no slowing down. Stress builds, and adds quickly. Is it any wonder why my father is moving to Prince Edward Island next year to live. :)
