Hi all. I'm new (obviously. lol). I've been lurking on the boards for the last little while and finally decided to register.

About me....I've been smoking over a pack a day for about 45 years now. No major medical problems from it yet (knock on wood), but I am starting to notice shortness of breath and decided it was time to stop pushing my luck.

I'm one of those people who can claim I can quit any time I please....I know because I've done it many times. hehe. End result, of course, is that I remained a pack-a-day smoker.

I saw an ad on the weather channel for Blu, checked out their web site, and decided to start doing a little research because it looked like something that might just work for me. Thanks to all the great advice on this forum, and watching a ton of videos on the different products, I decided not to make a huge investment for starters so I purchased a Joyteche 510 kit from GotVapes for $25. (nice little kit, btw)

So, after all my "research" & video watching, I then proceeded to make all the obligatory newbie mistakes, such as not blowing out the transport juice from the atomizer, etc. I must say, that stuff tastes pretty nasty. lol. Which reminds me, why don't they ship those with a pleasantly flavored transport juice instead? But, back to the subject......

Once I got it all sorted (ie:did some more video watching and forum lurking), I have to say I absolutely love it. My little 510 kit has convinced me to go ahead and purchase the kit I really wanted from GotVapes designed for newbs like me. Just waiting for payday to arrive. It's got 2 ego 1000 mah batteries, charger of course, 2 stardust clear ego cartos, a carrying case, 2 juices, a cone & an applicator kit. Very nice. I think it's going to be perfect for me. I'm also ordering a mini Vivi Nova to go with it. I'll worry about vv once the shopping bug hits me again.

Within the first week of using my little 510 gem, I found myself only smoking about a half pack a day, hence my decision to go ahead and order the nicer starter kit. I'm not trying to go cold turkey or anything (from past experience, I know better than to try that, hehe). I've just found myself not reaching for them as often. Instead I find myself reaching for my pv. :):)

So anyway, that's me. Introduction and all that, hi, how are you, etc. Love this forum.

So Calif
Welcome to ECF and congrats on making the decision to start vaping. I smoked for 55 years, quit many times only to restart within days most times. I know how insidious the smoking habit becomes. I wasn't feeling much besides shortness of breath either so I had no health scare, I got mad about the taxes on cigs here in Calif.

Whatever works ;)

Hello GrumpyGranny !

I am one of the "older folks" too.

I started vaping in April after smoking for over 3 decades and I also "quit" many times.

You have the right attitude. Just keep vaping like you are and you will find you don't have to "quit smoking", soon enough you will just prefer not to smoke any longer.

It doesn't get much easier than this!

I'm approaching 1,000 cigs avoided!

Hurry up and quit so you can put a how many cigs you haven't smoked banner in your sig and watch the number grow! Only 5 days for me hang in there you can do it ;)

Click on my banner counter at the bottom of my post and it will take you to the place to make yours.
Thanks all. :) This is such a friendly, helpful forum.

@Scottibones...Is that sig something that automatically counts for you, or do you update it daily? Where do you get something like that?

Welcome!! We have an older folks thread that you might be interested in. I'm one of the youngsters there as I'm only 49 lol We have one that we keep just to vaping, and one that is a social talk about anything thread.

You can click on anyone's banner as folks have said (and there are lots of styles) and it will help you make one, but....I'm pretty sure you have to have like 18 posts or something before you can update your signature. Don't quote me on that, but I think it's something like that.

Here are the links in case you wanna come say hi. Don't worry about trying to read it all, just jump in at the end. lol

I smoked for 35 years, and many there smoked much longer than that. Congrats to you and to everyone who has or is trying to kick the nasty habit!!!
