Early last year my non-smoking kids were over for Sunday dinner and one of those (infamous) e-cig commercials came on and my daughter said "Why don't you try using one of those?" I said it sounded interesting and let it pass.
My husband and I both smoked. March was right around the corner, as was DH's birthday (March 11) and his smokers cough was becoming more worrisome. I decided I'd check around for a disposable to try in the off-chance that they actually worked. I picked up a $10 'e-health' unit at the local smoke shop, charged it up, put it together and took a puff. I immediately said to my husband "Hey, this could work". That $10 unit lasted all of 3 hours, but my interest was piqued. Being a voracious researcher, I browsed to Google and typed in 'e-cigarette' and 'forum'. I clicked on the link that led me to a place called ECF.
After about 3 days of intense research (on ECF) I ordered 2 Riva kits and some e-liquid, making sure that this was the route he wanted to take to finally try to quit. He'd tried many times, so I was pretty sure he could make it work. I didn't really want to quit, I was only doing it to make it easier for him, but I was willing to try.
The kits came in the mail on Saturday and I started charging batteries, asking questions here and getting ready for the big day on Sunday, March 20, 2011.
At 9:00am I was ready to take the plunge. I put my cigarettes on the kitchen table and vaped exclusively all day. I smoked one last cigarette at about 7:30pm on Sunday, March 20, 2011.
Unfortunately my husband is still smoking, yet here I am, one year later, a non-smoker. I owe a large part of my success to everyone here on ECF. So thank you ECF, I couldn't have done it without you.
