One of my customers suggested I visit this site to help me decide which type and style of ecig to purchase. I lurked for about 3 days, made my decision (501), placed my order, and 2 weeks ago received it.

The information posted in the New Members section of this Forum is excellent, and I would suggest that anyone who is thinking of taking the plunge read the information provided. There's a lot to learn, but considering how much time we've spent smoking (me: 1-2 packs a day for 33 years), spending a couple hours on self education is worth it.

PS: The Search feature can be your best friend on any forum.:thumb:

Welcome everyone new.

For anyone who is waiting because they just don't know what to buy. I would just buy a 510 kit from cignot or Madvapes. With the price of smokes being what it is, if you spend two weeks reading before you make up your mind you could have already saved enough money to pay for a cheap 510 starter kit. After that you can always worry about getting a bigger mod or whatever.

I took my time - I spent about a month researching before I took the plunge. There's nothing wrong with researching!

Every time I found something that looked like "the one", I'd wait a day or two and find either a problem with "the one" that I wanted to avoid, or I'd find something even more attractive. It's a process that shouldn't be hurried.

I see a lot of posts from people who jumped into a 510 and hated it. I've also seen a lot of posts from people who jumped into a 510 and loved it. It's about reading, reading, and more reading. Only YOU know what you want from this experience, and you have to read the high points and low points to see if a particular model suits YOU.

I'm happy I went with a KR8 - easy to use, variety of vendors, no atties to fiddle with. If I had to fiddle with atties I probably wouldn't have stuck with it as a beginner. Now that I'm into it, I want to get a 510 with atty for sampling juices, but not everyday use.

I wouldn't have had half the success with it if I had taken the standard advice of grabbing a 510. Just my .02.

Since you posted, I assume that you see no more Blu adds. This may tell you something about the Blu. (Some people are happy with them, but most are not and get a 510 after they are fed-up.) I hope that this helps some people contemplating the Blu, as I was. Would-be Father-in-law got one and he rarely uses it, and is still on the analogues.

Welcome!

I agree in doing research and this is the place to be. However, I recomended the KR808 to two of my friends and both of them have now switched to a 510 because they just like mine better when they tried it. Plus, if you wait a month look how much it costs? According to your counter that month cost you $200 and a ton of cigs smoked instead of vapes taken. You could have saved enough in the first week to pay for the 510 and then by the end of the month you would have saved more that enough to buy just about any starter kit on the market.

I bought me first starter kit from China and then I did the math and ordered a second kit from Cignot. The weeks spent waiting were not going to be worth the money I saved and the smokes I was going to take.

The point I was trying to make was that if I had bought a 510 and had atty issues, I probably wouldn't have stuck with it and would have given up on vaping as a whole. Especially if I hadn't done enough research to know that there was an alternative.

Telling anyone to buy first, research later, is just bad advice imho. I think it's better to read up, see what other people think of various options, weigh out what the pros and cons are for whatever you're going to try.

Money was a motivating factor for me, but not so much that I was going to buy the first thing that came along. I was introduced to vaping by my cousin. He saw ads for Blu and decided that $60 was a fair price to try a starter kit. I tried his Blu, and it motivated my month-long search for info. Long story short, three months later, I'm vaping happily with no troubles, while he is frustrated and still smoking analogs. His wife won't let him try any other models because he already spent $60 on something that "doesn't work", so it's taken a back seat for him.

THAT is the kind of problem that research can help you avoid!

I hear you I really do and research is very important, plus I hope everone knows they can always ask questions and get good answers on this site.

It's just that e-cigs are just not all that easy to pinpoint what works for you and what doesn't. I think just as many people are disapointed with their first purchase no matter what they buy. I really thought my friends would love the KR808 they both seemed like they were just not going to enjoy fiddling around with a 510. However, it turned out they both decided to start refilling cartomizers and it's a bigger hassle than dripping. Plus if you want to try a two peice down the road you can always buy the 510 cartomizers.

So why not just buy something that is a known good product at a cheap price and continue to research while you vape and save money?

My answer to this is what I already said...

His wife won't let him try any other models because he already spent $60 on something that "doesn't work"

People tend to generalize experiences. In this case, they decided that Blu=Any type of e-cig, and they won't try again.

Some people are just like that.

(By the way, I'm surprised that your friends find refilling cartos to be a hassle. I spend about ten minutes in the morning filling my cartos for the day and that's it. I find them super-easy to handle. I guess everyone is different!)
