Hi All, Anthony Vapes back here with my review of CoilArt Mage Subtank. Please see bottom for disclaimers and links. Note: this is not marked as a sample and should be the retail version.

Introduction:
The CoilArt Mage Subtank is the latest sub ohm tank from somewhat long time manufacturer CoilArt Designs. Mostly known for their RDAs and RTAs mainly the mage line. Earlier this year I reviewed their Mage v2 RTA which was very nice and now the mage subtank which is basically a sub ohm tank version of the RTA, with of course a mesh coil option as it’s all the rage in vaping right now. It’s available in 7 colors Black, SS, Golden, Gunmetal, Black/Golden, Black/Blue, and Black/Red. They sell for 28.99 USD on their official site.

Looks and Design
The CoilArt Mage Subtank is a Beautiful Tank IMO. it looks just like the mage V2 RTA. It’s simple but not overbearing and has knurling on it everywhere it’s needed for a nice style that’s also functional. They offer it in 7 colors so something to match most setups. I have the black/blue one which is mostly black but has a blue right above the AFC and a blue ring on the bottom of the drip tip. Just enough color to give it a little pop but still look great on most mods. They include a nice frosted bubble tank as well which i like. I personally love frosted tanks and bubble tanks. It comes with a standard 810 tip (and 510 adapter) that is black delrin but with a small blue metal ring on the bottom. Overall I find it to be a nice looking tank that looks similar but different enough then your normal sub ohm tanks.

Features and Functions
The CoilART Mage Subtank uses a standard 810 drip tip so you can also use your own if you’d like but no 510 adapter to use a 510 tip as well. The drip tip is a black delrin on the tank i have with a blue metal ring on the bottom. Each color option has a different drip tip though. It fits great and works well with any 810 tip. All the threading on this tank is excellent. It’s a very nicely built tank with good quality. The coil system is a screw in type into the base much like most sub ohm tanks on the market. You need the tank to be basically empty to swap coils. Airflow is 2 large holes equally spaced apart on the bottom shaped like a dog bone. It’s plenty of air, easily made for DTL vaping. The AFC is smooth and easy to adjust even on mod thanks to the nice knurling on it and it’s on a stopper. Filling is easy as well, as it uses the standard screw off top fill which i love. The fill holes are quite large and easy to fill with any bottle type or just pouring into it.. It comes with a standard 4ml capacity and also a 5.5ml bubble tank

Coil Performance
Now to the important stuff. How does it vape? There are 2 coil options in total. A .2 ohm mesh (pre-installed) and a .4 ohm option (included). I started with the mesh coil and i have to say it is one of the better mesh coils i’ve used to date. I ran 120ml through it and you can see the condition of it in the picture above. I found it best in the 60-70 watt range and just a small step behind the fireluke mesh flavorwise. Really good coil. Then the .4 ohm regular coil. I found it best at around 40-50 watts. It’s just an ok coil. Gets the job done. Pretty meh, I used 50ml on it and it’s not dead yet but compared with the mesh coil and all the other mesh coils i’ve used it’s not a coil i’d buy more of personally. Overall really good performance as one of the better mesh coils but the standard coil is just decent.

Overall Impressions
Overall I really love this tank, with the mesh coil it is one of the best tanks on the market especially when you account for the large capacity. It also looks great and well built. The 4ml capacity is pretty standard but the 5.5ml bubble tank gives you a nice amount. The mesh coil performs great and i love the looks of the drip tip. I would have liked to see a 510 adapter though.

Pros
  • Build Quality
  • Looks
  • easy to fill
  • No Leaks
  • Color Options (7 total)
  • Standard 810 tip
  • AFC adjustable easily on mod
  • thread quality
  • Coil performance (mesh)
  • Coil Life (mesh)
  • good capacity 4ml and 5.5ml options
  • bubble tank included
Cons
  • no RBA deck
  • non mesh coils are just decent at best
  • no 510 adapter
Conclusion
So with all that said, do I recommend this tank or not? I don’t like to do a hard yes or no, but i’m going to have to lean towards the yes. I think it makes a great option if you want a really good performing tank with a good capacity. It’s probably a small step behind the fireluke mesh flavorwise but many may prefer the much capacity of the mage subtank over the small flavor difference. I’ve added it to my sheet recs

This is Anthony Vapes just keeping it honest, hopefully you all can say the same and i’ll catch you on my next review.
