That's only because they lie about how long they last. And if you haven't noticed yet, they are a huge ripoff on parts.

Duo is actually is E9 aka KR808D-2 the near but incompatible twin of the popular KR808D-1. Both are true 3.7v slim batteries so they deliver a slighter hotter hit than many other slim models. KR808D-1 is the most popular and most supported 2-piece slim ecig. It is the 2-piece threading all of the new blank carto styles support. The D-2 on the other hand is the fave 2-piece of ripoff rebranders who slap their own name on it and jack up the price.

VaporKings.com now has some blank KR808D-2 cartos and it's possible leCig might sell some D-2 cartos. Lecig.com also sells adapters D1 <> D2 (but their own D1 is more like a 901 - no exactly the same airflow - however the adapter is usable to use KR808D-1 and Vapor4Life cartos on a D2, or D2 cartos on a KR808D-1

If you want something stronger than D2/D1 then you need to step up to fat battery models like Ego where you can use lower resistance hotter attys and cartos, or to sturdier 3.7 volt models (2/ LR attys or cartos) which are typically box mods and other shape mods.

Thanks Dormouse. Good info.
I suspected as much about the 51's. I just didn't research enough before making the purchase. We all learn one way or another.

I've seen very few posts from people that weren't advised here that thought their first purchase was a good one. I know mine was an overpriced piece of junk.

IDK what to buy in anything when I began, so I just asked and bought what the majority told me to bought - a Joye510. After that, I moved up to the eGos and Rivas. Next step up if I don't quit altogether will be the Buzz. The mistakes I made were in forgetting to order a backup charger and buying a cheap passthru.

A lot of us make bad choices in the beginning, but it's so easy to just get back on track. You'll be fine, Trillius. Welcome to ECF.

I also started with a 51 Duo. I've had it for about 8 months now. Although it took me less than a month to research and find cheaper replacement cartos and batts. I'm just now switching to D1 so I won't be so limited. WTG Dormouse on the info!! LeCig was my go-to vendor for all my D2 needs. I bought the adapters from there to make my switch to D1. But I just got my first order of D1 cartos from V4L and they are SO much better than any D2 I could ever find!! So IMO OP, if you are going to stick with the D2 I would highly suggest switching to a D1 ASAP. But if you want better battery life definitely go with something bigger. My solution was to buy 5 batts and a passthrough. That way I don't use my batteries while sitting at my computer (I was to the point that I'd drain one batt before the other could charge. My PT is AWESOME!!! If I carry 3 batts and 3 filled cartos with me during the day it is plenty enough to get me through.
Good luck and welcome!

Oh...I also order blank cartos and fill them. The only experience I have of prefilled cartos were the ones from 51 and that made me wary of ever buying prefilled again. Although I am considering it after reading so many good things about different ECF approved vendors :)
I feel like I get more out of them if I fill them myself, plus I have the juice ready to refill when the carto gets dry.

Thanks everyone.
I did move into a kit from V4L and really like it better already. I haven't had enough time to evaluate the batts but the pass through is very nice. I may find myself moving quickly to and Ego or something similar, but then that brings me to post about becoming a "fanatic" http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/177745-will-i-become-fanatical-well.html
:)
I'm joking about the fanatic stuff... but I can see how quickly one can dive into this hobby!
