Personally, I dislike the term "Metalhead". I prefer to call myself a "Metal Enthusiast" because a "Metalhead" can often be associated with bands like Disturbed and Drowning Pool which are far too sissy for my means.

Now then, I'm wondering if there happens to be anyone lurking on the forum who has an inclination toward DEATH METAL or other music of the genre that might incoperate a level of BRUTALITY and technically. If you were a fan you could tell I was, too by my avatar. :D

I most often enjoy Melodic Death, Tecnical Death Metal, Death Core, Grind/Core Metal, Thrash and sometimes a bit of Power Metal. Of course I listen to many other types as well. Here are some of my favorite bands to give you an idea:

Severe Torture - Death - The Black Dahlia Murder - Rotten Sound - Decapitated - Cannibal Corpse - Pantera - Psycroptic - The Red Chord - Origin - Neuraxis - Misery index - Malovelent Creation - Lamb of God - Kataklysm - Gorod - Goatwhore - Hate Eternal
... The list goes on and on.

Our kind are far and few, a dying breed. I just wanted to know if there is anyone out there.

What's up Brother !! We're not a dying breed, we're selectively bred !! Did you hear about Peter? Steele creator/frontman of Type O Negative?? Found him dead due to some heart thing...48 I think...Ran into Type O a couple of times when they opened for the mighty PANTERA....DIME RIP BROTHER....Got the new Lamb of God in the car stereo now...Also digging World Painted in Blood...Yeah F*#KIN' SLAYER....You know Hanniman and King are in the Raider Nation...Had to throw that at 'ya...Will be seeing HELLYEAH at the end of the month..maybe twice...They have a new one due out soon...Also as you can tell I'm a member of the BLS NC Chapter...Heard all the bands you've mentioned and my girlfriends son talks about them all the time..I've heard some and it's fine by me...You'll understand if the music doesn't make you want to get up and dive in what's it good for....Like I said I showed up with Led and Black then one fatefull night around '80 I was working a gig at the local auditorium where an unheard of Judas Priest was the headliner...That night changed it all for the young headbangers in our area..We haven't slowed down yet.. Nor will we...Brother Scortched you will always have plenty of company when the pedal hits the Metal......:D:D:D

Mr. J, I heard that..During my years at the local auditorium I saw many, many acts...The tightest band I ever saw supported the King Hisself Elvis...I was only 16 when he came to town and was off the side of the stage LMAO at those "old" women....The last show I worked was Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder...beign a 1/2a$$ guitar player myself let me tell you no way I can keep up with Kentucky Thunder..I'm a fan of anyone who makes good music but it gets no better than the pure sounds of Thrash......Elvis was kinda sweaty..I'm just sayin"

Wow, that's great I got more responses than I had anticipated. It's nice to know there are some metal enthusuasts on the forum other than myself.

Personally I don't listen to other types of music, just metal and the like. There are so many endless sub genres and so many thousands of bands from many countries that all have the abality to bring a tasteful twist to the colture. I have quite the collection going, myself. I own over a terabyte of CD quality (not mp3) of just METAL, most of which I have not had the oprutinity to listen to yet. It's nuts. Many of the bands are not from the US, but that's okay because I can't really understand what the vocals are about until I have a chance to go over the lyrics a few times.

I feel that metal is often overlooked by the general conseus firstly, because of it's in-depth technicality - multiple instruments doing many different things at once seems to come off as noise to alot of people. On top of that is the vocals, often guttural and grotesque; because people cannot understand the lyrical themes that puts them off. Another aspect is the content, often depicting gore, violence and anti-religious themes scares alot of people away.

By the way, this band Gorod kicks ... if you have not heard of them. Pretty technical.
